skankle Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I feel like I'm living in another world with House of Usher because to me it was another step down on the track of Mr Flanagan's long post Smashing of Hit House decline and I couldn't even finish it. And I even made it through Midnight Club! Mr Flanagan, if you're reading this, I have an important message. You are good at HORROR. You are good at SCARES. You are good at GORE. You are not good at WRITING. Your writing is SERVICEABLE when used as condensed character and narrative building between HORROR, GORE, ATMOSPHERE and SCARES. A drama where a ghost appears once every hour long episode between endless monologues DOES NOT PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS. Thank you for listening, Skankle (former fan) 1

It was definitely a step down. Even freaking Midnight Club feels more rewatchable. None of the characters being likeable definitely hinders it for me. Mr. Flanagan thought he did something there. 1

But yeah, Pearl was sabotaged to the max. If you mean the first two Scream from the 90s sure, the last two were CW|Hallmark horror for teens, aside from the nostalgia factor, both were extremely forgettable. 'X' and 'Pearl' were a breath of fresh air for a genre that has became stale for majority of releases. 1

I don’t know which one of these girls is more sick and twisted/bigger anti-hero, but at least they scored high. Edited January 25 by Lemon 1
rooby.booby Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) The right movie won! --- I need to re-watch "The Witch" i remember being so boring and not into it. Hmmm. --- X > Pearl so i love to see it (both good movies tbh) Midsommar's place is just right. THANK YOU @ChapelHooker for the rate, you did an amazing job! Edited January 25 by rooby.booby

It was not that amazing as people make it out to be. The cat/mouse with the killer/main character was amazing tho. For me it was decent.

Popular Post genetic fail Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 (edited) Greetings, Horrorheads! When one rate ends, we open up another! The first month of the year is almost over so it's time to take a look back at the previous year. As a 2023 horror year apologist, I took it upon myself to host our (now) annual horror rate. RULES - Send me a list (thru PM) of your 20 favorite horror movies from 2023, ranked from most favorite (#1) to least favorite (#20). - You may also send me a (****) list of 3 movies you absolutely despised, in no particular order. Ballots with Scream VI on the **** list will be discarded. - We are not strict on release dates. Movies that made festival rounds in 2022 may still be submitted as long as they had a wide release in 2023. - Deadline of submission is on February 21, 2024. RESOURCES - You may use this handy dandy Letterboxd list to catch up on 2023 horror films you may have missed. - You may also watch The Ultimate Horror Guide from Spookyastronauts for a comprehensive list of 100 horror films that made noise in 2023.
