In many cases, they still occupy the same sonic world as hyperpop, but guitar riffs and chord progressions are increasingly becoming the foundation, assuming roles previously dominated by synthesizers and electronic production. Guitar-forward pop isn't new; artists like Sky Ferreira, Kesha, and Lady Gaga blurred those lines in the late 2000s and early 2010s, which is how tracks like "The Fame" or "You're Not The One" got their bite. Recent offerings, however, feel like a distinct evolution. In a pop music landscape crowded with arpeggiating synths, frenzied drum machines, and overpowering basslines, the guitar has returned as a central part of the songwriting process, the foremost beat-thrusting vehicle that would (in hyperpop) typically be a role filled by a synth. Where hyperpop is mentioned, A.G. Cook must be acknowledged. Cook's PC Music revolutionized synth-heavy, electronic-leaning pop music, with SOPHIE, Yung Lean, and Arca, among others, leading the charge with warbling 808s and disorienting, otherworldly hooks. He was a synth champion, that is, until 2020's Apple and 7G brought guitars back to the fore. Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, have withdrawn their not guilty pleas after being charged in a child endangerment case. Us can confirm the couple were permitted to skip a Monday, August 10, court hearing in Arkansas after both parties submitted a plea by order to the court. The legal move allows both Joseph, 31, and Kendra, 27, to enter guilty or no contest pleas to those charges, a spokesperson for the Washington County District Court told People. A judge overseeing the case will now have the opportunity to accept that pleas and determine if the two will serve time or pay any penalties for their alleged actions. Back in March, Joseph and Kendra — who have been married since September 2017 and share four children — were charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. Evangelist Alvin Christian is the man behind God's Store House Food Bank in Bluefield, West Virginia, a city located in the southernmost part of the state. Since 2023, the pastor has helped feed up to 800 families a day. If you've ever worked at a food pantry, you know donations can come from individuals, larger food banks, or local businesses with excess product they can't sell anymore. As recently as last week, Christian was letting supporters know everything he had in store for them. But he recently filmed a video showing viewers that his freezers were completely empty. There was no food coming in, and therefore no food going out. In the now-deleted reel, Christian explained that there were outlets trying to give him the resources he needed… he just refused to take them. Because, after doing his own research, he found out those groups worked with or supported LGBTQ people. A copy of the video was preserved by Facebook user nes.quick.737, who said the pastor "would rather let his people STARVE than to accept food for the pantry from the LGBTQ community." So if I have this correct, he has no food to give away… because the people who want to offer him food to feed the hungry are also the ones who love LGBTQ people. (That implies other Christian bigots don't want to help out at all.) He'll gladly give away food to anybody, he promises. But he won't accept food donations from individuals or groups that ally with gay people. Why not? What does he think will happen if a bunch of canned goods come from a local LGBTQ pride group? Is that how the cyclosporiasis outbreak began?! Why would it matter if a donated box of cereal came from a lesbian mother or a Christian father who's a sinner in plenty of other ways?
