the discourse around them is kinda hilarious because ppl are grasping at anything to **** on them to the point they're being mocked for... having a young fanbase? the biggest girl group of all time had a MASSIVE pre-teen audience if anything, them connecting with younger audiences is the dream there's this funny disconnect where ppl drag them for being a "product" and then for excelling at exactly what they were created to do. they're a pop girl group (the kind that usually don't have very long runs, successfully or not) not some high art project that needs to be taken very seriously. you can mock the childish fanbase all you want but somehow they're still breaking decades old records, getting multiple Grammy noms, booking places like SNL etc. the real issue with them is clearly that they've become a LOT more successful than they were ever supposed to be
