We have no clue that this is what was said; Kelly never even claims this was said. Regardless, most people would be happy to see a cheaper alternative to an item they’re interested in. In this economy, the offense to being offered a cheap alternative is a rich people thing.

Of course. It’s genuinely absurd to say someone who has written so many fantastic songs isn’t talented. Is she a talented vocalist? No. Is she a talented dancer? No. But, she’s better than the average person (by a wide margin) when it comes to singing; she can play several instruments; and she has a unique ability to craft landscapes with her lyrics that many artists need other armies of other songwriters to emulate. That requires talent. It might not be the right package of talent to meet your subjective standard for taste, but it is still objectively a package of talent.

I don’t eat Chick Fil A anymore either, but I agree. I find companies that pretend to be allies and sell pride merch only to then donate to anti-LGBTQ politicians to be immeasurably worse.

I don’t think anyone being offered a $2,000 bird is assumed to be poor. But feel free to run with your own interpretation.

I appreciate that they are able to read the room and are shifting their rhetoric on this matter (albeit, very mildly, since they refuse to call it a “genocide”). However, look towards 2028, Kamala has disqualified herself on this issue when it comes to that election. Kamala had every opportunity to say genocide was bad during her 2024 presidential campaign. She, instead, chose to say that being a strong ally to Israel is a top concern, led the DNC to disallow a pro-Kamala Palestinian delegate to speak in favor of her at the 2024 DNC in Chicago, had her campaign practice racial profiling by kicking out Muslim Americans from campaign events for fear they might call to Free Palestine, and she chose to say she will ensure we "have the most lethal fighting force in history" while children were being torn apart in Gaza with American weapons. She mode those choices. That history is there; we cannot change it. But, she must also sit with the consequences of those bad decisions. I welcome this sign that the tides are shifting. But, Kamala has patently demonstrated that she cannot be trusted on this issue. If feeble, deeply hated Joe Biden was too intimidating for her to take the moral stance against genocide in 2024, then she will fold to take that moral stance under any pressure.

Have you been to a furniture store? Furniture pieces that are on display have price tags but that does not mean the furniture pieces on display can go home with you. You have to put in an order and wait for it to arrive. The bird automaton is no different; the price tag refers to a replica that is for sale but is not located at the store. This is not complicated.

Enchanted is literal magic. That one wins for me by a wide margin. I would put The Cure in second place. I really did not click with HMHAS when it dropped two years ago. It's grown on me and I can appreciate it now—I love listening to it on my vinyl player. But the only song I really love as a standalone song is BOAF; every other song really only clicks for me within the context of listening to the album in full. CHIHIRO basically just feels like a vibe song that heavily depends on its production to carry the sparse lyrics within the context of the album. So, the song—on its own—feels pretty lacking to me.

America has killed millions of people across the world in order to maintain its empire; the Iraq War alone resulted in the death of a million Iraqis. Pulling a single example of radical religious rule (which America also does; see the laws being passed that call for the death penalty for women who seek an abortion) doesn’t magically outdo that terror.

Kelly is my literal fave and I think this whole thing is embarrassing and she shouldn’t have dusted off her inactive Twitter account to feud with a small business.

I love Kelly. She’s the only artist I’ve truly stanned… but they ended her with their statement. This whole thing is embarrassing and it’s a shame she spent all that time to go through the “forgot your password?” protocol for her Twitter account to start this nonsense.
