From her early days as an indie electronic darling; to her brief run as one of the many torch song balladeers angling for Adele-style crossover success; to her current status as the reigning queen of the gay uncs, Jessie Ware's music career has taken many forms.

Following the release of her 6th studio album, Superbloom, and just a few weeks away from that tour launching, it feels like now is the appropriate time to assess her catalog as a whole. Here's what we'll be rating.

Devotion - Her breakthrough debut arrived to instant critical acclaim and blended sounds from her house/garage background with adult contemporary/pop songwriting and her powerful voice.

Tough Love - Capitalizing on the chart success of Wildest Moments, she leaned harder into the ballad/torch song lane while also dabbling in R&B with songwriting collaborations from Ed Sheeran, Miguel, Benny Blanco, Romy, and her first work with James Ford, who would go on to become a long-term creative partner.

Glasshouse - Her furthest dive into the AC world after becoming a new mother, this album (while still having it's own gems didn't veer far from the lane she had established and it's muted reception combined with a tough experience on the US tour for the album nearly led to her quitting the music industry and focusing on her newly successful podcast Table Manners with her mother.

What's Your Pleasure? - After teasing a return to dance with several droplets in late 2018 and 2019 while pregnant with her second child, she took over the at the time vacated dance floor in 2020 with this behemoth of a project. Covid couldn't stop her trajectory with this album projecting her to new heights and gaining her a more stable long term fan base by grabbing the attention of the gays and was easily her most critically lauded work since Devotion, standing out as a cut above the rest even in a year where disco was very in.

That! Feels Good! - Following the success of WYP, she continued to focus on the dance/disco lane with this campier and more joyful entry that leaned more into soulful R&B/funk based elements of disco while also exploring some more future forward electronic sounds in tracks like Freak Me Now and Lightning.

Superbloom - Her latest release which she describes as part of a trilogy with WYP and TFG that leans into a softer/lush sound inspired by Minnie Riperton and vocal divas like Barbra Streisand/Shirley Bassey while also still catering firmly to the gays on tracks like Sauna and Ride.

Over the years she's also turned in several featured performances (including a surprising amount of uncredited lead vocal performances), multiple soundtrack cuts, along with some key remixes. We'll be rating most of those, excluded are songs where she's really only background vocals (Sanctuary/Love Is Gonna Lift You Up), remixes for her songs that just added additional vocalists (sorry to Pabllo/ASAP/Bibi Zhou/Sihan, not you Roisin Terfy though, you can choke), and commercially released live only songs (her The Way We Were cover/her feature on Sam Smith's live album), and I limited the inclusion of her stint in Man Like Me to the one song on streaming that she was heavily featured on vocally.
