People need to stop using "mania" for everything. The only mania this decade is Taylormania. Shakira getting a smash this far into her career is still impressive in its own right.

He was the first openly gay male to smash with truly gay songs, music videos and performances, so this isn't true. He was very much needed and overdue at the time. I don't really miss him though, he has a few bops but was never that talented.

Why do you always assume everyone who shades Gaga is an Xtina stan? So strange. - Anyway, DWAS (as overrated as it is) smashed because of both Bruno and Gaga globally. I do think however Bruno is the main reason the song did well in the U.S and Gaga in Europe, then elsewhere it's probably equal.

That member always calls anyone who makes comments like this "old" and "out of touch" when you literally named 2 other gen z songs that felt miles bigger. And you're right, this song has very little cultural impact compared to those songs and also Sabrina and Billie's smashes. It's not just a generational divide.

You can only bounce back like Cher, Tina and Mariah did if you have undeniable talent and respect to stand out. I can't think of anyone with Katy's lack of talent, respect and good music that has ever bounced back. She could have a cute hit from a tik tok trend (anyone can) but she will never have another smash era again.
