The disrespect. Where is Michelle Williams? She birthed the dance-pop/EDM era here. Tenitra, The Great should be acknowledged

Why did Katy Perry's debut flop but Michelle Williams' outsold 143?
Michelle's last album, Journey to Freedom (2014) peaked #29 on the Billboard 200, despite being a contemporary gospel album and also her first release on an independent label, eOne Music. That's higher than many of her MPG peers who've always released pop/r&b music, which has broader GP appeal and a much bigger market share. All her studio albums have reached the BB200, whilst many of her peers have albums that didn't even chart. Billboard 200 peaks: #37 | Keyshia Cole 11:11 Reset (2017) #48 | Kelis Flesh Tone (2010) #73 | Kelis Food (2010) #76 | Nelly Furtado - The Ride (2017) #87 | Ciara - Beauty Marks (2019) #91 | LeToya Luckett - Back 2 Life (2017) Did not chart | Keri Hilson - We Need to Talk (2025-26) Did not chart | Ciara - CiCi (2025) Did not chart | Nelly Furtado - 7 (2024) Did not chart | Christina Aguilera - Aguilera (2022) @D.M.F

I posted what is reported. You have yet to post receipts that 143 has sold more than 100,000 units in the US? Tenitra's debut outsold 143 over 2x.

Why did Katy Perry's debut flop but Michelle Williams' outsold 143?
I used what is currently posted on each album's wikipedia page and cited the original sources. Maybe KatyCats need to get in formation and update 143's wiki...or you could post the up-to-date sales here with industry-recognised receipts

Why did Katy Perry's debut flop but Michelle Williams' outsold 143?
143 was not Katy's first or biggest flop era. In fact, her first flop was so agregious that her label was bankrupted and she changed her stage name from Katy Hudson to Katy Perry. This thread will be comparing those 2 albums to Michelle's contemporary gospel debut album - which has outsold both of them combined Katy Hudson (2001)Total sales: 200 143 (2024)US sales: 100,000 UK sales: 9,250 Heart to Yours (2002)Worldwide sales: 500,000 US sales: 220,000 UK sales: 3,200
