She should really be opening for someone like Jay Z. She could do all her classics including non-singles like Queen ***** and features like Quiet Storm (Remix). She's arguably one of the few singers of her generation who can still sing any of the popular genres - pop, r&b, soul, gospel and JAZZ. She'd probably sell more doing a contemporary jazz album with the right vinyl aesthetic, focusing on physicals to appeal to both older demographics and hipster millenials and gen Zs. Ezra Collective just went #1 in the UK. She can sing any kind of jazz from the classic American Songbook era to the modern, eclectic stuff. They haven't stopped making it, but it doesn't get pushed as big as white MPGs...this is nothing new. The last dark-skinned MPGs were Normani, Janelle Monae (on the eclectic side), Kelly Rowland. Normani had the global potential, especially coming from a gloabl GG like 5H...but what happened? In the UK we had Mis-Teeq, Beverley Knight, Jamelia, Alexandra Burke. Alex never got a US push like Leona. Currently in the UK we have Kelela, Rachel Chinouriri, V V Brown but they're nowhere near the heights of the 2000s girls who had multiple top 10 hits that were well-known.

IKR...I was listening to this in the shower...and it's VERY pop...in a generic way. Chaka's voice hasn't diminished and IMO she deserves songs that only SHE can sing. A lot the songs I heard could have been given to anyone. It's giving shopping mall background music. Someone call Raphael Saadiq, Mark Ronson, Jungle or Tame Impala to give her some soulful, funky productions worthy of her voice and range. This was back in 2007 and still sounds fresh (produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and The Avila Brothers)

Blige, Lil Kim, Missy Ellitott, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Keri Hilson, Alexandra Burke, Christina Millian, Mya were all having cross continent smash hits

Nationale Top 40 Suriname is THE national chart, not a single platform and it's dominated by their own male artists. Western MPGs are a minority most weeks. On the current chart, Becky G is the only MPG in the top 20 (#11) and Beyonce is #32 with Donk. Not everyone has a global smash like Say Yes which has charted in Europe (UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands), America and the Carribean (top 10 Jamaica, top 5 Suriname) And STILL chating on iTunes 12 years after its release
