Choosing based on look and press is useless because the things that I would actually base my decision on are (1) who will be monogamous and (2) who doesn't smoke, vape, or use drugs.

The folklore and evermore photoshoots perfectly fit the music. If people think those are folk / indie albums, it's because the title has "folk" in it and it was produced by a guy from The National, not because she stood by some trees in grayscale. I have never seen anybody complain about this. It kinda seems like you just made it up to make your point seem bigger than it is.

That's revisionist history. She was publicly donating to LGBT charities in the early 2010s and had a storyline about bullying gay kids in a music video at the same time all the other pop girls were releasing their anti-bullying empowerment anthems. Her lack of support post-YNTCD has been very disappointing and she deserves to be dragged for it, but that doesn't make it okay to gloss over the support she did show in her early years. If anything, it's more important to acknowledge that she did support the community that far back, because it makes it even worse that she isn't as vocal anymore.
