Music Rules

GENERAL

Sharing copyrighted material is strictly prohibited. Album and single threads are for discussing the actual music.

Discussion about leaks is off topic and should be kept to a minimum. ATRL will not facilitate the leaking of music in any way.

  • Do not tell users where to download copyrighted material or hint at it.

  • Do not ask for illegal links or downloads, including through walls or PMs.

  • Do not post streaming links that have download options enabled.

  • Do not post unofficial streaming links to albums (or parts of albums) before or shortly after release.

  • Breaking these rules may result in permanent removal from the Music section.

  • Any link may be warned or deleted if we receive a DMCA complaint.

ALBUMS

  • An album thread can be created when:

    • The album title is known.

    • The month of release is known.

  • Album threads close six months after release.

    • Discussion should move to the artist’s Base afterward.

  • Reissues may receive a new thread if:

    • More than 25% of the tracklist is previously unreleased material.

    • Live versions and remixes do not count toward the 25%.

SINGLES

  • A single thread can be created when:

    • The song is confirmed to be a single.

    • The title is known.

  • Single threads close when the song completes its chart run in relevant markets.

  • A prominent remix with a new featured artist may have its own single thread.

THREAD OWNERSHIP

  • The thread owner must keep the first post updated with:

    • Exact release date

    • Artwork

    • Tracklist

    • Official purchase and streaming links

    • Official video(s)

  • To take over a thread:

    • Submit a help request if the owner has gone several days without updating required information.

  • Arguing about thread ownership or the content of the first post is not allowed.

TRACKS

  • Allowed track threads include:

    • Newly released tracks (including snippets) that are not singles.

    • Newly leaked older tracks, including demos.

    • New official remixes (only one thread per song).

  • Do not post a track thread if:

    • There is no stream available and the song is not available for purchase.

    • The track is from an album already released or leaked in full.

  • The following are not allowed:

    • Unofficial remixes, mashups, instrumentals, or a cappella versions (post in Base).

    • Tracks you created yourself (post in Blogs).

    • AI-created tracks.

MUSIC VIDEOS

  • A music video thread can be created when the full video is available.

  • The following belong in the single thread:

    • Teasers

    • Lyric videos

    • Behind-the-scenes content

    • Alternate versions

    • Dance versions

  • Live performances uploaded on an artist’s official channel should be posted in:

    • Base (or Celebria if recent).

HEADLINES

  • Appropriate for:

    • Reissues without new material

    • DVD releases

    • News about current or upcoming musical projects

    • Updates on an artist’s musical career

    • Major album or single news that needs separate discussion (e.g., tracklist, cover reveal)

    • Music industry news (labels, outlets, streaming services, etc.)

      • Post data-focused updates in Charts

  • Not allowed here:

    • Reviews (post in Base)

    • Tour, performance, and award show news (post in Celebria)
