She doesn't sing live these days and she doesn't move either. She can't even bother to pretend to lipsync. What is wrong with her?

All she cares about is that 1 Christmas song nowadays; nothing else. No wonder it's her last hit.

I'm a Lamb but the last album was a mess (though I will say Mi is great and I Won't Allow It deserved to be her 20th #1), you can tell her heart isn't in it anymore and her lack of vocal ability nowadays makes her depressed.

It feels like the fact that her vocal abilities are gone has made an impact on her. It's understandable tho because imagine that you were like the best vocalist in the world and then you lost your most valuable thing. Nobody can be happy about that.

Nowadays, her fasetto/head and whistle registers are still great, but when she switches to chest register she sound not that great anymore. Still love her tho and she still remains one of my biggest faves ever. I bought 2 vinyl of Here for it all but havent played them tbh

She's lazy

I remember reading in the past that she had a bad relationship with alcohol. Sometimes I wonder if this is what we are seeing; she drinks too much, sabotages, and can't deliver.

Either way, this woman is a legend and so so precious. Just hope she is happy.

She looks lost most of the time. Even in her interviews, she can barely muster energy to complete two sentences.

Lazy.

I have a theory that she's suffering from some sort of early onset cognitive decline, and performing and making music is the only thing that makes her feel normal. She seems numb and completely out of it during her interviews, like she's either on heavy medication or her brain is just not functioning properly. She went through her entire life being extremely sharp and observant, but she completely changed within the past 6 years or so.

It's clear she's going through something at the moment. I wish people could be a little kinder about it.

She's very clearly struggling with an undisclosed mental or physical health condition that has worsened over the last couple of years and I really think the public perception of this time period will age quite poorly. She's not herself at all, seems quite heavily medicated, and she's also spoken recently about her self-confidence being lower than ever, which seems odd for someone with such an illustrious career.

Mariah is going through it but she continues to persevere and show luxury.

I am a huge fan and I've noticed too. Honestly, I just feel like her heart isn't really in it anymore and that she mostly just performs/records because she knows her fans will be happy and it's her job. I hope my queen is doing alright because I love her!

If this thread was made about another pop girl after multiple deaths in the family, bans would be issued and everybody would be pointing out how weird this is. Not sure why the entire internet randomly thinks its okay to treat THEE Mariah Carey like she's Britney Spears in 2007 constantly.

I just don't understand why she keeps doing things she clearly doesn't want to. You can't book a gig like this and expect no scrutiny.

Multiple deaths in the family doesn't force you to perform constantly, make an album, and do interviews. Mariah is a legend, she can do or not do whatever she wants, no one is forcing her to fly across the world to sing at the Olympics, or give a 45 minute interview with some stranger. The fact that she is in this sort of way for years and isn't getting better is very concerning, like there's a disconnect between what she thinks she is doing and what is actually being done. An extreme lack of self-awareness from someone historically known for being the most self-aware. With all due respect for both women, Mariah and Britney have very little in common.

Just medication and alcohol, it doesn't mix.

Something shifted when her mom got hospitalized after that Pride show she did.

To me it looks like she is on some type of calming medication

She's more than lazy, I assume she might be medicated or there might be a medical issue, she is only 50 or so.

Look at JLo at the same age, Mariah acts like she's JLove's mother.. and if you think that's an exaggeration it isn't, women who are 80 are more energetic and sharp than Mariah, Jane Fonda, Cher are some examples but they're many

I'm a Mariah stan. It's clearly a mix of (presumably prescribed) medications and maybe alcohol.

Mariah's diagnosed bipolar, and she lost both her mom and her estranged sister last year. That's a lot. Yes, no one is forcing her to do anything but maybe she copes by working and staying busy.

Whatever cocktail of meds she's on (again, presumably under the care of a doctor) seems similar to a tranquilizer, which is unfortunate. The immobile performances and flat interviews have been making me uncomfortable, too, but if she wants to be doing it then so be it. I just hope she gets through whatever she's going through, and it isn't something more serious like addiction issues.

I have no problem with the new album, I think it's great, and I think a lot of you are really weird with how you talk about her.
