In Quebec there's a good 30% of strong independents, it's the bottom line of independence polls in Quebec since decades. There's probably another 20%-25% of soft independents who are waiting for the right time and right alignment to probably vote Yes. A referendum on separation in Quebec can win, it just needs the right conditions and nowadays it is not with the Trumps administration and the global situations. But eventually, a separation from Canada is totally plausible for Quebec. As for Alberta, let's say the 25% who voted for a referendum would vote Yes, it is still a very good start for a separation movement. Unlike Quebec which has two parties officially sovereignists including one who did two referendums (who took power in Quebec two weeks ago) the situation in Alberta is different because the movement is supported outside the parliament. But I think if the movement becomes political, the growth of the separation share could be a real thing with the means and power of an official party. But at the end, we can't compare both separation movements, Quebec's one is about the existence and survival of a nation and the other one is more about federal frustrations about energy politics, economic injustice, centralized power, etc

Actually only Quebec held official referendums on separation. Alberta's one is asking if the population want to do a real referendum on separation. It's different.

Nothing impeach the Federal to hand all immigration powers to provinces, in fact I think the immigration topic would be way less divise as it can be right now. The Federal could be there only for supervising the process for security reasons but nothing more.

It's time for provinces to control the entirety of their immigration. Needs and issues are different from a province to another and centralized a serious topics like that at a federal level is problematic.

you are totally blind if you think one second that the rioters that broke everything in Paris yesterday were there for a good reasons. They were breakers that don't care about society, they are there to search for trouble, fight and destruction. They will do it again and again. How do you think people feel on the streets, they feel unsafe and some might be scared. It's totally unacceptable a situation like that and I really hope actions will be taken to avoid anything like that ever happen again

Let's be real here, student protests are legitimate, but what we saw yesterday had nothing to do at all with these protests, it was rioters taking advantage of that social movement to vandalize everything on their path for now reason. They were the same ones for last time football finale, they are the same ones time after time taking advantage a situation to outside and break everything. I really hope it opened the eyes of the French on what it's going to be in a near future if nothing is done

i have cousins early 20's and co-workers mid-20's and nobody act like that, actually it's the opposite, they are taking back their masculinity, it's not because you see it on social media that they all act like that, a very large portion of younger guys reclaim their masculine status in society which were taken from them with that toxic masculinity narrative we kept hearing for way too long
