  2. new Ariana album is SOOOOOOO good. SM GGs will have material for years
  3. It's not really country but LEMONADE by aespa is really gay and that counts for something
  4. thank GOD we still have artists that care about music videos as an art form
  5. This is her Blackout, lol 10 years from now everybody will be pretending they knew it was a classic from day 1 and the pannings are only because of her image. I honestly might like it even more than ES.
  6. Her best video since NTLTC
  7. She was dragged for being a culture vulture and now she presents differently. Not sure why this is a gotcha to y'all
  8. How was Ariana Grande not an edgy 1960s girl before Wicked, do you guys even read your posts before pressing submit? OAHs make no sense
  9. KiiiKiii is spiritually SM like NewJeans btw
  10. Teddy has more sales and acclaim than BTS across all his credits and if Ejae keeps writing hits for SM she won't end up far behind. KDH was actually fanfiction levels of quality representation of what kpop is about, it was elite, experienced talent bringing their best, but in an extremely manufactured way, and using visuals to sell music. It was the highest possible level of kpop, which is a multi-billion dollar, globally consumed industry and was deserving of recognition even if it was slop for kids.
  11. The talented one
  12. It was me, like all of the original ones that don't feature lorde
  13. They actually added an Asian music category to the Grammys and invited a bunch of idols and pds to join the academy, on top of idol groups' existing eligibility for the duet/group award. We're closer to soshi Grammys than ever before.
  14. Not the Beyonce awards hating all poc. You're deluded
  15. Again, a non-English album that was eligible for niche categories just took the highest award at the Grammys. This isn't the VMAs. You are being mislead. They have been nominated 3 times and probably would have squeezed out another failed nomination in the non-asian group category again this year if they submitted. Research how the Grammys work from a source other than RM's Instagram.
  16. You do realize that your favs had 0 chance of winning a general field Grammy because their western labels own bigger stars that they have a larger financial stake in right? The labels decide who they're going to push for submissions and who amongst their submissions is the artist they're telling people to vote for behind closed doors. The kpop category isn't a ban on asian artists in the general fields, you clearly don't know how the Grammys work either on a technical level or how the campaigning to win actually works and is decided. There's a whole other latin Grammys awards show on top of several latin music categories at the main Grammys and a spanish language album just won the highest award.
  17. It's actually really really weird to make this super sweet moment into an opportunity to trash her for not eating enough, especially considering how interacting with the public warmly like this is clearly an instance of Ariana doing the hard work and trying to get past some of her psychological issues.
  18. BTS Army obsessing over the recording academy for 6 years straight but not learning the industry politics that actually fuel the grammys during that timespan is frying me.
  19. An extension of HYBE's very obvious and thoroughly reported on through verified sources media strategy. This is consistent with literally a decade of similar strategic moves. A group whose entire image is predicated on being underdogs said the Grammys is bullying them by making a category they could easily win in with the right material. The Grammys already has awards for different genres and regions of music and the intent was to stop shutting out Asian talent, you are literally being lead to believe the opposite. The Grammys are more about industry politics than popularity and even with representation by major labels, kpop groups aren't the priority of their western labels because they own less of the idol groups than their own stars. This is going to force the academy to take HYBE's submissions from scooter-affiliated acts at least a little more seriously if they don't want BTS army members doxxing voters in the future or other HYBE acts to boycott too. I guarantee you their first all-Korean single is winning that award. There's a handful of Asian artists who it will be impossible to win this award against, it's actually normal for niche categories to be dominated by names whose recognition extends beyond that category. It's why certain pop girls have dozens and dozens of awards(again, including my favs).
  20. I edited my post for more clarity btw. Yes KATSEYE is more Scooter affiliated than BTS(and its likely none of them will ever win a Grammy, despite being extremely talented), but that doesn't change what's happening here.
  21. It's not a conspiracy, they've been openly engaging in these tactics for years with awards shows. They buy companies that run awards shows and just this year attempted to buy Coachella's parent company because BTS wasn't booked and BIGBANG was. Kpop labels operate under stan twitter mentality where these milestones need to happen because almost all of their non-Asia audience comes from the stan crowd and takes these things too seriously. If a western act doesn't have a grammy or didn't play coachella but had a huge career otherwise, it's not a big deal because most of their audience didn't notice. If a kpop act doesn't meet those milestones, literally every single member of their audience is tapped in to stan culture and notices. Literally every globally popular kpop group, including my favs and your favs, spends millions and millions of dollars to inflate their popularity by trying to take achievements and records by force. This shouldn't be a hot take. HYBE is more brazen about it than other labels, but that's not necessarily a good or bad thing. You could read it as being more open about their motives OR as being totally driven by smoke and mirrors because they can't stand out otherwise and both could be valid. I'm not actually making that value judgement in this instance, just pointing out media play at work. The Scooter affiliation is still there, and the music industry does not fw that man. Look at Ariana's track record with the Grammys even after very publicly firing him and receiving global smash hits and universal acclaim.
  22. See above. I'm not even hating I'm just being realistic about the way their company operates. Scooter acts never perform well at the Grammys. This gives HYBE an edge. JYP and YG have spent decades building connections in the us and HYBE has to pull stunts to make sure there isn't competition.
