Being a racist and Islamophobic is not exclusive to democrats babe, it is a widespread issue across Western culture that has been exacerbated by 9/11. Just like Americans are inherently racist towards black people, whether you are a Republican or a Democrat. It's a culture thing that will probably never be changed entirely, just because it is so engrained in popular culture and without a proper system change this issue will always be addressed superficially. Heck, your close friend who is super progressive might even say something Islamophobic or racist. Framing it on Democrats only, is just exactly how they want you to feel. I think it's about being realistic and understanding how deeply rooted it is and how hard it is to combat something that is ingrained in the public's consciousness. It's going to take more than a few social democrats in power for even that to change, if it is to change at all. Racism and Islamophobia are likely to always exist and be reflected in some capacity in our systems and our societies. Heck, we can't even ******* vote for a white woman in power. That tells you all you need to know because people generally agree that woman are too emotional and not meant to lead men, because that is not their role in the society and that is not exclusive to white men… it is a widespread cultural belief. If a white woman cannot be voted in, there is no chance in hell a Muslim man will without resistance be vote within his role and his capacity as a political figure in the States….

I never said we overly punish rapists. This is what you constructed based on what you interpreted of my posts. I said that I believe life in prison for a minor is not a solution, as reflected by science, to a crime they have committed. That was my claim. A person has a right to a trial if they've committed a felony and this trial should be in accordance with their action and what led them to commit these actions. They should not be held accountable for the countless crimes others may have committed in the same line. A lot of you seem to want to hold him accountable for all the rapes that have been committed throughout history; hence the life in prison. That is very very questionable to me. I think any lawyers would tell you that any person as a right to a fair trial. And I'm not against any punishment for the crime, I'm questioning how efficient is our system with dealing with those types of crimes specifically if they keep happening again. Clearly the issue is cultural, contextual and systemic as reflected by the recent resurgence of these sexual violence crimes from a minor to a minor. In all cases, I do not believe a life sentence for a minor is an adequate or acceptable sentence but I'm not a judge either so I'm not qualified to render those judgments. Reform should be what is pushed forward for minors.

Well the phenomenon of rape has not started in 2026, and unfortunately for the victims, is likely not to stop in 2026, if we continue magically putting guilty people in jail. There's always going to be another person committing rape. The real solution requires prevention, education and SERIOUS actions (including concerted efforts) within our society to prevent rape. This is how it is. It's not going to be a magical wave of the wand that will fix this issue. So yes, not understanding why rape happens and finding how to prevent it by understanding it what causes it, is dehumanizing to the victims. However, in the past few years we have noticed a steep incline in cases on underage rape. If that doesn't give you an indication that this is a society issue, it means you're avoiding the empirical evidence.

I was assaulted violently by a man, during a sexual encounter (almost got a concussion). I know very well what sexual violence is. I even had to report them to the police, so I know exactly what kind of discomfort this may cause and I'm a muslim man. So I definitely have a lot of empathy towards the victims of sexual assault. I do recognize that we live in a society that is problematic in an endless amount of ways. If we want to make abstraction of science whenever a subject is deemed as uncomfortable, what is the use of having empirical information that can be verified then? If we are bound to react impulsively and emotionally to issues, we will never find the end of it. This issue of sexual violence will only continue to exacerbate itself. Once again, my approach is specific to a minor assaulting another minor. Holding people accountable is necessary, but so is being rational and finding proactive solutions to problems. Making a teenager pay for a life in prison only fulfills a circle of violence, especially if the person shows remorse for an action they committed. Too early to tell now, but this is clearly a bigger issue in display. Additionally, men often get sexually assaulted in prisons after being incarcerated, thus fullfilling that circle of violence I'm telling you about - no exact figures but approximately 21% have admitted to being raped in a study that I have read recently. That's considering there is a stigma of men on men violence as well - imagine being straight and a macho and having to admit you got raped. Ultimately, this is not going to end until we proactively as a society start to unravel the causal effects of rape. A 15 years old raping another underage person is definetely an indicator that something is wrong.

Well if you're not invested in knowing why rapes happen, you're not invested in finding a solution to them and avoid future victims. You're basically saying he is an animal that needs to be killed rather than try to understand what circumstances led this minor to rape another minor, which we will agree on, is NOT a normal occurrence. Wouldn't you want to understand why he did it and what led him to do it? Not looking for answers is infinitely dehumanizing for the victim, future victims and for the person who committed the crime.
