I'm not super into gatekeeping, but I understand the sentiment. I thought the same about people who got on board at 1989 and rep irl. The new fans are part of what's going to continue to propel her into new areas. It gives her leverage and power in the industry, and they become a new critic to respond to

You're absolutely right about the importance of new fans, and it's thanks to them that we had moments like the Eras Tour or the first week of TLOAS. But sometimes they're too aggressive and use too many mean terms, like when they called her a lobotomized woman just because of her relationship with Travis. At least the fans who arrived after 1989 were just crazy conspiracy theorists (especially the gaylors ), but they rarely ridiculed her. If We Are Never Getting Back Together or Look What You Made Me Do had come out now, they would have literally destroyed them.

I replied to you on that thread so as to turn every thread that compares Taylor to other artists into an internal battle between Swifties, in this case Fearless vs. Speak Now. If we become annoying enough, they'll lose patience, especially if it becomes another Lover vs. Reputation

i don't think that there's a solution for her for anything at all that doesn't involve someone taking some sort of weird contrary position solely to be weird about taylor swift. i think there's a certain point where you have to just accept that large chunks of the population are incapable of being normal about taylor swift and let it go as far as possible, maybe blocking a few people as you go along

I was a member of many Swiftie spaces - some Patreons and Discords, and I had to leave them all. I really only stick to ATRL Base now.

It's the most incredible thing how discourse-proof Taylor is now. People have been heralding her downfall since TTPD and she's currently parked at number 1 with a COUNTRY SOUNDTRACK SINGLE in GERMANY of all places.

So many other stars rise and fall with the internet's discourse machine. Taylor now seems to operate entirely outside of it. Chronically online losers can scream into the void 24/7 about how over she is and she just keeps getting bigger.

Something else…

People love to drag Taylor by saying that she's only as successful as she is because of ravenous interest from her core fanbase. We simply have too much data that obviously disputes the idea that she isn't the most famous artist in the world in general, but I also have to laugh at people characterizing getting millions and millions of people to care enough about your work that they buy multiple versions of it, often on formats they can't even access, as a bad thing. She is the biggest star by volume of interest, but she's also the one who creates the most ravenous interest. It's like Rihanna PLUS BTS. Hence her career being by far the most dominant of the century.

Oh yeah, hate doesn't affect her at all at this point. Hate has never truly affected any artist, you can only be cancelled by your own fanbase, not by haters.

After the so far excellent reception to this lil country song and the potential smash hit it could become in the US, plus all the work she and Disney put into locking down the country radio format, probably soon to be followed by mixtape TV - if this woman goes right back to Jack and Max mainstream radio pop for TS13…

Resubmitting my idea that she could learn a little production and give us a fully self-made country record with TS13, easily and to more acclaim than she's seen since Red TV. Write it all, play it all on guitar and piano, produce it herself, don't let a goddamn soul in that studio until we have 13 excellent tracks and a few bonus tracks to spare for variants. I need Last Kiss, I need State of Grace (Acoustic), I need The Prophecy, I need Right Where You Left Me! Album cover with her looking out from a porch onto the countryside, reuse the Red typeface because who ******* cares, and just overall slaughter me dead, come on girl I know it's in you! I know it's there! I can almost hear it already!

I figure it will be broken one day, and I don't mind if Olivia is the one to break it. It's the cycle of things. The other girls fans have been really insecure lately though, when's the last time one of them just said Taylor is doing well, congratulations? Like it's not that hard. Jealousy is part of the reason your fav is not getting anywhere near Taylor right now. We can all win because we get to consume great music as fans, don't take on their successes and losses as your personality, it makes you look bitter and weird.
