ATP OTHs online expect Taylor to not do the things everyone else does. There are 3 versions of Patient Zero. 4 if you count the behind the scenes video (which is just the og song with no physical equivalent). Olivia and Ariana doing a dozen+ versions? Slay! Taylor doing less than 1/3 of that? Unfair and not a girls girl! I hope Billboard changes the rules. Taylor won't have any trouble debuting at number 1, as evidenced by Patient Zero itself. She'll also easily clear 1 million on the Billboard 200. Some of y'all's faves will struggle to even top the album chart, let alone the Hot 100. Give the people what they want!

I know it's pointless to post this on the Taylor snark website, but there are 17 versions of drop dead. That's far more than P0. Taylor is also following a predictable release strategy. Everyone knew these were coming to streaming the week after they were made available for download. It's actually so psychotic how people expect her to alter her release strategy because of a remix announced this week. Some of y'all need a real reality check. Talking about mental illness and that American Dad fish meme. The call is coming from inside the house. Chasing that OTH dopamine hit by dragging her for perfectly normal things like a predictable promotional strategy and a Grammys For Your Consideration poster. And this probably won't even impact the chart outcome.

Will this tie Taylor with Rhianna for top 10 pop hits?

I think I have outgrown stanning someone new. I really love Billie's music. I love the last two Sabrina records. I love Olivia's newest effort. But I just don't see myself committing to stanning someone new ever again. Part of the reason I still do it with Taylor is because we have a history lol. Part of my life and formative years. While I may become a big fan of other artists, I don't see myself infecting my mind with the mental affliction of true stanning again. The formative years aspect is necessary for that kind of loyalty IMO. I think some people on here throw around the term too loosely. If you're changing your mind about who you stan frequently, we define the world differently lol.

I think this makes logical sense. On the surface it might seem a little surprising simply because TFM was simply that big, but Ariana is much more consistent which always wins out in the end.

This is just ATRL, Twitter, and Reddit, though. Seriously. IRL her popularity polling actually has her rising again and around the same level as her popularity when Midnights was released. She got a massive spike during Eras, but obviously that was not sustainable.

I really don't know what you're basing this off. Well, I do. Your subjective opinion lol. Songs like Fortnight and Houdini have remarkably similar stats. Fortnight has more streams on Spotify + YouTube. Apple Music/Amazon numbers aren't public, but as Apple Music and Amazon are biggest in markets that favor Taylor, it's pretty safe to assume that Dua isn't eating back that deficit there. Training Season, while currently having a viral moment, is also behind. Houdini is also 2 years older than Opalite but only ~200 million streams ahead on Spotify. The Showgirl singles will get a big boost when they're eventually toured. This just shows the silliness of trying to deny hard numbers. Taylor has the megasmashes and she has endless moderate hits/huge album tracks. There is no rational reason to say that a song like Houdini is bigger than a song like Fortnight. Dua has a similar number of megasmashes, a somewhat similar number of moderate hits, but Taylor pulls far ahead because so many of her songs simply perform very well. Again, a dozen released this decade alone with 1 billion+ streams. Many more creeping toward that threshold.

Based on this standard, in addition to Taylor's 3 global super smashes, she also has cardigan, willow, All Too Well, Karma, Fortnight, and Opalite as hits. These totals are calculated using the global chart and even songs like cardigan which were released before it launched have charted forever on there. Also a huge amount of other songs that performed well on the Global 200. The fumes in here are hysterical, it's not like this is a surprising result . Taylor has released a dozen songs this decade with more than a billion streams. Many others are close. Her catalogue also surged during the Eras Tour. For songs, Taylor is very much in the Madonna blueprint. She has enormous undeniable smashes like CS, AH, and Ophelia, but ultimately wins the race by having an unbeatable number of moderate hits/huge album tracks. She's even more dominant in album success, but her game has always been extraordinary and singular consistency on both fronts. It is the aspect of her career where she is indisputably the most dominant to ever do it.

It's all relative, though. Adele's era is considerably bigger than those 20th century eras relative to her contemporary competitors. I would say that's the fairest way to measure levels of success. The fact that you were able to list a handful of examples from the end of the 20th century and that there is no comparison in the 21st century for Adele says it all. In the end, 1989, TFM, and Teenage Dream will creep closer to 21 because of Adele's comparatively poor longevity (and all those albums had significant reissues), but that will take a very long time. I would say 21 is singular in terms of the success of one album over its initial promotional run. Maybe The Bodyguard is comparable, but I'd still say Whitney has considerably closer contemporary comps during the main chart run than Adele. OT: This is an interesting list, but it also has a major asterisk because certifications are not instant in the USA. Obviously the quick certs are very impressive, but a list like this implies we're tracking the speed at which the albums hit 10 million units. While some of them were promptly updated, many of them were not. It wouldn't change the top results, but would still shake things up considerably. 1989, for instance, was certified 9X platinum in 2017. It likely passed diamond eligibility in late 2018/early 2019.

I personally find the point system a little easier to understand with the TOTC formatting. Ophelia's first week would've added ~700 points giving it ~7,200 points which is still comfortably below Man I Need. Based on the major streaming resurgence, it should have reentered the Hot 100 last week and still clenched the top 3 (obviously with a lower total), but Billboard (very weirdly) didn't even allow Showgirl tracks that hadn't hit 20 weeks to reenter. They're lowkey a mess behind the scenes. Taylor got ****ed by the recurrent rule change of 2025. Ophelia was booted out by a Drake album bomb. Otherwise, she would've been competitive for the top 2 even without her first week.
