Mariah's "Dreamlover" turns 33 today!
it's from a relatively weak era (music box is a bit MOR even for early mariah) but as a song it's as good as any of those really

will still be her third uk #1 album in a row, not everyone has that- UK Midweek: Dai Dai #1, KATSEYE #14, Charli XCX #21; Albums: Charli XCX #1, 15k

this is nice as well, and is that a geometric formula for tate's ass in picture one?!- Boy George releases unhinged pro-Israel song "We Will Dance Again", denies genocide
- HDD posts about Miley working with Dr. Luke, then edits article
even besides the obvious this doesn't actually make any sense, whatever big hits luke has worked on before he's long past his best and his name is poison, idk why she'd even think about it- Is Candyman by X-Tina remembered?
this is the one I still hear on oldies radio, more than beautiful and dirrty but less than genie- Tate McRae
i think there was a shift with the deluxe album artwork certainly, the videos have improved over the SCTW era too but i've never quite shaken the feeling that there's a certain shonkiness with how tate is handled in terms of visual style relative to her peers, it feels good to be coming out the other side- Tate McRae
yeah it looks good doesn't it! we've made so many posts in here slagging off her creative direction, this is a real novelty- Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
chart thread on this is more or less unreadable, people genuinely thinking this was an attempt to top brat commercially or simple bad faith wafting of stats entirely for stan war purposes, i'm not entirely sure (i mean i am tbf)- Taylor Swift
exactly, it's a silly record full of bops but also i think it tells you a few things about her life atm as well, just not like midnights did- UK Midweek: Dai Dai #1, KATSEYE #14, Charli XCX #21; Albums: Charli XCX #1, 15k
if she can pull this off it will be shakira's 3rd uk #1 and her first since beautiful liar in 2007! adéla is the pick of these, i feel like METTE fell off a bit but i'll be listening, rebecca black always worth a look too- Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
three days in and i'm calling it, this is really good. all the things that felt awkward at first have ended up feeling like strengths, it's not really underproduced, there's just a lot of stuff that feels a bit weird and horrible at first that ends up having something else about it- Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
the idea had started creeping up on me for a bit but the more i listen to it, the more i think charli is just too sympathetic to the other person (it's not just the best friend stuff). but also, i bet it suits charli to let people think it's her response cos it feels like a classy move, it's a whole hall of mirrors thing lmao- Bangerz by Miley is the best album ever made. Why?
- Gracie Abrams - 'Daughter from Hell'
am kinda gaged by how consistent it is, i think with something this lowkey it could easily drag but almost every tune is an earworm (not you title track, don't make that face), i'll put it on in the background and then catch myself loving something else that's been drifting by me up til that point (just getting the measure of afflictions and humming rn)- Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
have to say my instant reaction to this idea was that more or less every pop star has a song on their album these days where the internet goes "is this about taylor?!" and i'm not buying it any more than with the last half dozen lol- Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
i understand people feeling like its frustrating, unfinished and all that (i'm sure i'd prefer an easier going record) but i guess that the point of it is that if she'd wanted to release a more polished record then that's what she'd have done it doesn't mean that everyone will like it or be bothered enough to go along with it but it's that way for a reason and i guess the challenge is to get what you can from that approach? the deliberate irritations are a prod at the listener and there are times where it's just a bit tiresome but i can enjoy the playfulness of it as well- Top 5 most emotional songs that truly touch your soul
