I mean, Ophelia received better radio support on the formats it was played on unless I'm mistaken. Like IKIIKY is kinda struggling on pop radio. It's just that IKIIKY benefits from both pop AND country (+HAC and AC like Ophelia), which leads to much bigger totals. And of course Ophelia also had to deal with the other songs on the album being played during the first few weeks and then had to deal with Opalite of course, meanwhile IKIIKY has no competition from Taylor herself.

Also I want her to do the Superbowl as much as anyone, but ngl, I'd rather she wait until the public opinion gets back in her favors. I really don't want this huge milestone to be ruined by the braindead rot that is constantly on her ass day in day out. She also doesn't need it yet tbh. Maybe by 2030 or something.

I miss longer songs in general. The TikTok algorithm has just led to such short songs that you don't even have the time to fully immerse in it. Bring back intros, bring back bridges, bring back outros. Enough of that chorus verse chorus verse chorus bullshit (if we're lucky to even get that much).

Really happy to see the resurgence of this song. It's one of the very few songs I enjoyed off of RO, but I really played this one to death. Deserved!

Honestly, maybe it's completely wrong but I feel like it's because the streaming charts are starting to reflect more accurately than ever how people have always consumed music. At the time, just because a song left the top 100 or whatever on iTunes, it didn't mean people stopped listening to it. But we couldn't actually track that. So now, with a more fragmented culture than ever, the songs that are gonna succeed the most are those actually known by most/everyone. And that's the song that were released prior to the death of monoculture. I think that's why older songs are so prevalent nowadays in the charts. The newer stuff just becomes more and more niche. I don't think people listen to less new music than before. It's just been a lot more diluted because the pool to choose from is ever increasing and more and more niche.

The "trinity" of girls that debuted in the 00s kept on changing, years after years after years. But it really does finally feel like this is the definitive one as these 3 honestly have had the most impact/influence over the music scene/the new generation compared to anyone else. Wish it was Rihanna instead of Gaga though but auntie somehow had to rihtire from music and become a make-up/panty selling billionaire and leave us all behind so here we are

I adore her, Butterfly is a stone-cold classic and The Roof is one of my favorite song of all time. That said I'd give anything to never hear AIWFCIY ever again.

Honestly, with all the recent talks about songwriting, I can't help but imagine TS13 will propose something really different and elevated from what we can expect from her. It really sounds like she's being so geeky about songwriting (I mean, more than usual) so it kinda feels like she's getting super excited about something. The last time we heard her like this was for folklore which was a commitment to a new approach to her songwriting. Or maybe I'm just creating a fantasy in my head. But I like this fantasy so I'm gonna continue believing it. We desperately need a 180 after Showgirl.
