Unless you have some substantial receipts that this is some widely held belief among Taylor fans, I really don't believe that literally any person who knows anything about culture or American music charts has ever claimed this.

On album charts like the Billboard 200, they will almost certainly be combined in basically every market, yes.

Ruin The Friendship (serving Red realness, love it, love her forever) Opalite (sounds the closest to being a new spin on classic Taylor lyricism and melodies, not perfect due to the "ah ah ah!" bit making it sound like some kind of Christmas carol but very good overall with excellent verses) The Fate of Ophelia (bop, smash for a reason, eminently catchy) The Life of a Showgirl (I don't get why this one doesn't get more praise and I think the drags about the opening lyrics are genuinely some of the dumbest things I've ever read; this has strong melodies and lyrics and uses its feature exceptionally well, Sabrina is perfect here) Wood (I don't care if some of the lyrics are cringe, the melodies and production are excellent and fun, and some of the other lyrics are actually incredible) Honey (overall good, catchy, and lyrically decent, but something feels just a little over-processed in the production - that's not enough to make it bad, but I'd say this is where the album falls below her discography average) Father Figure (some how this gives me Lover era meets Karma but like in a way that works, idk, it's fine) Actually Romantic (gets a few points for actually having attitude and balls in a way that doesn't seem as guarded as usual, but simply isn't my style of music, though I like the melodies; makes me feel weird because it's directed at another of my favorite artists ever lmao) Wi$h Li$t (not much to say; I honestly think it's relatively innocuous, but would be far below average on any other album she's ever made. Would be #2 if it were the acoustic version, though!) CANCELLED! (basically just Reputation but if it were kind of annoying) Eldest Daughter (saved from the pits of hell by the excellent bridge; most of the issues here are the lyrics, too, and the production is actually fine) Elizabeth Taylor (just does not click for me and I don't have a really good explanation, but I think it's something about the Old Hollywood cinematic vibe just not doing it for me; don't love the production approach here)

I really don't get why some of you are attempting to suggest it's somehow a bad look of her to celebrate the biggest debut US music history by giving the fans a few new songs, like Have you not, like, achieved something in your life ever, or…?

Just did a little research on this and found out that including all different kinds of reissues, 1989 currently has the most Hot 100 top ten hits with 12 - so if she manages this then she'd take the record from herself For top five hits, it looks like Teenage Dream holds that record currently with 8 including singles from reissues, while Janet still holds the single-release record with 7.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for something like that just in case the commercial response is tepid only because it's "just" a deluxe or something, even if all four songs are excellent. But it would kinda be a gag, Showgirl era ending with 14 top ten hits, 9 top five hits, at least 3 #1s

It's so weird. Modern social media culture has rotted stan brains to the point they think it's normal to do the digital equivalent of walking into a room where everyone is happily discussing something and then tell every single person there how much they don't like the thing. A hundred times weirder and more unhealthy than positively-oriented parasocial obsession, which is already a problem. Like, being genuinely incapable of containing your disdain for an artist to the degree of OTHs on here, to the degree that it actually seems like compulsive behavior, is legitimately concerning.

I'm genuinely a little confused by people who love the cover, but like more power to y'all I won't judge I'll probably be keeping the "Crowd Is Your King" edition cover in my library, personally. The new one just doesn't do it for me - I even prefer the standard edition cover over it. But I never hated the standard cover anyway.

Which is fair as far as the quality of the music and hoping these new tracks are an improvement, but has basically nothing to do with how people are getting mad over such minuscule things as her bringing up the album's record breaking debut in an announcement about the album's deluxe edition.

I swear to god some of y'all literally spend your time hunting for things to be mad at, like imagine being mad that the announcement of a deluxe for this album dares to… mention the album's most significant achievement and one of the biggest achievements of her career

Notably, when you google "pink clouding," the top hit is "SVU," and it's pretty easy to relate "patient zero" to Grey's Anatomy so… same old Taylor as usual

So wait whoever said something yesterday about the tracks being "a Lady Gaga song from Chromatica," "Florida!!! but different," and "💕☁️" had actual tea???
