Hot 100 | Midweek predictions (7/25/26): Texas #1 (x14), IKIIKY #2, Boston #8
This is just completely wrong. Maybe true in Renem's basement, but all Taylor's number 1s have excellent consumption in the USA except IION? which was still a totally organic number 1. It wasn't even intended to be a single. Every Taylor number 1 except IKI,IKY and IION? will be 5X platinum eligible in the USA by the end of the year. By the end of the decade, at least 10/15 will be diamond eligible. OT: IKI,IKY another smash with longevity for Taylor!

What's one 10/10 song from each of these artists?
Beyoncé: XO Taylor Swift: Ivy Rihanna: Only Girl Lady Gaga: LoveDrug Ariana: Everytime Adele: Turning Tables Billie Eilish: Happier than Ever Olivia Rodrigo: You + Me = <3 Dua Lipa: Cool Lana Del Rey: Chemtrails Over The Country Club Lorde: Supercut Katy Perry: Teenage Dream Britney Spears: Circus Madonna: Borderline Mariah: Emotions Honestly should be able to produce an answer for all of these in order to sign up for this website. If you can't admit that all these women have some great tracks you're a brain dead obsessive hater.

ATRL, do you stan a billionaire?
This is an INCREDIBLY absurd framing. While it might be true in the most literal sense (you could also claim that someone worth 499 million is closer to homelessness than 1 billion dollars), it isn't true in any meaningful sense. One hundred million dollars puts you in the top .01% of wealth in the USA. It's more like .001% worldwide. Most of the people we are discussing are also quite young. If the B is really that important to you, a pop star worth 100 million at 30 will be worth 1 billion by 70 assuming an incredibly modest 6% annual return. For high net worth individuals who invest aggressively, the return is much higher. That's also assuming they stop warning money aside from investments. If your actual concern is wealth hoarding and exploration, the centimillionaire class holds FAR more global wealth than the billionaire class and they do all the same things.

Looking back at the last 10 years of Katy's career, what went right?
All this + maintained cultural relevance. Many stars flop and then also fade into relevancy oblivion. Sometimes it's for the wrong reasons, but Katy is still very much a cultural figure. Her early catalogue has also enjoyed enormous success over the last decade. She'll forever be a pop staple. Bigger and more relevant than similar artists. Even ATRLers continued obsession with her indicates that.

ATRL, do you stan a billionaire?
The morality distinction at one billion is kinda ridiculous. If you stan a pop star worth hundreds of millions of dollars, you have no moral high ground. Many pop girls attain their wealth through business ventures too like clothes, makeup, or perfume. If you must ethics Olympics it, I'd rather stan someone whose billion dollar wealth is primarily theoretical and derived from the value of a possession that's illiquid like master recordings and not someone who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars for selling makeup. ATRL cares more about the stan wars and gotchas than the principles though so exploitative mega corporations are fine as long as it's their fave and the net worth doesn't manage to get to a B.

US Airplay Discussion
Does anyone know the longest spread on overall radio number 1s? Feel like 17 years must be up there!

The spread of 2009 to 2026! Curious what the biggest gap of radio number 1s ever is between first and most recent.

Was Garden of Eden another wasted Gaga lead single?
I actually really disagree. It's obviously subjective, but Abra has a more palatable pop sound vs GoE IMO. I agree it's still abrasive and gay which is why it wasn't bigger (though still a very solid performance).

Was Garden of Eden another wasted Gaga lead single?
I think garden of Eden was actually treated perfectly. It's a fan favorite, great performances. It's very gay and too abrasive to be a great single choice if your goal is getting a smasha. Probably would've performed slightly better than Disease and worse than Abra. LoveDrug the missed biggest hit of all time that you are…

Taylor Swift
I really hope she sees it that way. IMO she really has nothing left to gun for aside from the Hot 100 number 1s record, and prerelease singles for 2 studio albums would all but guarantee it, especially when you remember that she'll probably pick up at least 2 number 1 singles in the USA from Debut 20 (I'd Lie is RIGHT there. Massive USA country smash and she can always use physicals to push it over the finish line if needed) and rep 10. Unfortunately I think Showgirl opening with 4 million will be a more important data point in her eyes and she'll continue justifying the rollout that led to her shattering her own enormous first week sales record 4 times in 4 years.

Midnights went from streaming monster to catalogue nightmare. What happened?
Seeing as 60% of the daily streams are coming from one song that we know via Gaga herself wasn't intended for Mayhem, I think it warrants a mention in this context (a discussion about album consumption). Even if you replaced DWAS with a song doing 1.5 million daily streams, Mayhem would already not be clearing 3 million daily, barely a year after release.

Midnights went from streaming monster to catalogue nightmare. What happened?
So we just keep moving the goals 62% of Rihanna's albums regularly do 3 million. 75% of Taylor's do. And it obviously becomes more difficult to keep those percentages up as you release more music. Again, Taylor is singular. Nothing in either of my posts has any pop girls close to reaching her, your post made no sense lol. And this is just one metric on one platform. Taylor's streaming dominance is bigger on other platforms and it doesn't even factor sales or touring.

Midnights went from streaming monster to catalogue nightmare. What happened?
Where in that paragraph is she on par with the other pop girls? Rihanna, who has the 2nd most albums getting 3 million+ daily streams regularly has just over half of Taylor. Gaga has less than 1/4. Beyonce, Taylor's closest cultural competitor, has 0. Not sure where you derived that claim.

Midnights went from streaming monster to catalogue nightmare. What happened?
Both are true. And that context makes her utter dominance over the streaming era girls even more impressive, sis.

Midnights went from streaming monster to catalogue nightmare. What happened?
The fumes in here from the OTHs already . It's just that Taylor has too much content overall and too much recent content to stream. Her daily streams remain monstrous (though everyone has dropped considerably from the highs of 24), but unlike basically every other artist who has been in the industry 10+ years, nearly all of Taylor's albums are consumed. For other artists, you might have 3/10 popular albums that their streams primarily come from. Taylor's entire catalogue is being consumed. With TVs, she regularly has 10/12 albums doing over 2 million daily and 9/12 doing 3 million. Rihanna has 5 regularly doing 3 million+. Gaga has 2 including a 2025 release containing DWAS. Katy has 2. Beyonce has 0. If she had taken a break post-Midnights it's recurrent stats would be much better. But it's not like the stats are terrible. 3 million daily from a pop girl who debuted in 2006 is nothing to sneeze at. What other 4+ year old 2020s albums by digital era pop girls are doing that?

Bigger classic: Livin' La Vida Loca or All Star
golden, diamond encrusted trash cans racing I would say LLVL was bigger at the time, but All Star has maintained more cultural relevance, especially since Shrek stays so relevant. All Star overall.

"I Knew It, I Knew You" surpasses 100M streams on Spotify | Taylor's 272nd
Only 4 songs are projected to have more streams in the US this week and 2 are Ella and 1 is a July 4 song. Serving longevity!
