  1. Yeah, I don't think you can really weigh in here unless you have both. Pets are incredible. But they aren't people. Maybe for .01% of pet owners it's truly comparable to how they'd love children, but I think it reminds me of how conservatives treat abortion, weirdly. They like to claim abortion is literally murder, but if they literally believed that, they'd probably react to it differently and even more strongly. I don't know a pet owner who claims to love their animals like children and then literally treats their animal like a human child, despite knowing many people who make the claim. Not everything has to be equivalent. We can love our pets deeply and fiercely without making the borderline ridiculous claim that we love them like human children. If you wouldn't sacrifice a pets life to save a human child you really need to get your priorities in order.
  2. Kinda love the thread idea! Beyonce and Madonna are taking.
  3. I think Bey deserves most of the acclaim she gets, but honey what is this? Spiritually giving that video of that random straight guy saying Martha P. Johnson is his style inspiration.
  4. Even when Taylor loses she wins. Despite the Showgirl blockback, she logged her biggest first and second singles since 1989 and got her biggest global chart hit ever. Opalite is probably in her top 10, too. Not easy to do with solo songs 20 years into your career!
  5. Not falling for this bait because y'all will cancel me, but let's just say Taylor's variant sales are secured when it comes to the good sis, DRTD!
  6. As others have said, it's a scam not to use a credit card. I've made thousands, if not tens of thousands, in benefits over ~10 years. Just pay on-time and don't spend money you don't have. With all that said, you know yourself. A very good friend of mine sought my advice about credit cards and I gave him all the info, recommended a starting card, and gave him all the warnings. He immediately got himself into bad debt (despite a good job) and had to take out a loan to pay off the debt at a better rate. If you worry about your self control, skipping credit cards might be for the best. If you can spend within your means, credit cards are a great way to build credit and literally get free money.
  7. Ophelia by far. I absolutely agree that Showgirl is in her bottom 2, but Ophelia is one of the best female pop songs of the 2020s and Taylor's most instant pop song since Cruel Summer in 2019.
  8. Best album of the 21st century and I'm being so serious. What an incredible, potent mix of top tier artistry AND very enjoyable melodies/easy listening. A lot of critical darling albums collapse in actual consumption because while they may serve artistry, people don't actually like listening to them. folklore is a deadly combo.
  9. I think people are doing too much re: Argentina, and it's actually mostly because of football if people are being honest. People are just working backwards to make all Argentinians evil because that's the claim they want to support. Talking about any population in absolutes is problematic and the exact sort of behavior left-minded people claim to discourage. With that said, the Falklands stuff is truly absurd. Argentina has no logical claim to that land.
  10. I love how crazy the internet has driven literally everyone
  11. Wildest Dreams + TV is actually doing ~800k But impressive longevity for Shakira
  12. This is just completely wrong. Maybe true in Renem's basement, but all Taylor's number 1s have excellent consumption in the USA except IION? which was still a totally organic number 1. It wasn't even intended to be a single. Every Taylor number 1 except IKI,IKY and IION? will be 5X platinum eligible in the USA by the end of the year. By the end of the decade, at least 10/15 will be diamond eligible. OT: IKI,IKY another smash with longevity for Taylor!
  13. 8 songs pulling one million, downfall seems to be delayed once more!
  14. Beyoncรฉ: XO Taylor Swift: Ivy Rihanna: Only Girl Lady Gaga: LoveDrug Ariana: Everytime Adele: Turning Tables Billie Eilish: Happier than Ever Olivia Rodrigo: You + Me = <3 Dua Lipa: Cool Lana Del Rey: Chemtrails Over The Country Club Lorde: Supercut Katy Perry: Teenage Dream Britney Spears: Circus Madonna: Borderline Mariah: Emotions Honestly should be able to produce an answer for all of these in order to sign up for this website. If you can't admit that all these women have some great tracks you're a brain dead obsessive hater.
  15. This is an INCREDIBLY absurd framing. While it might be true in the most literal sense (you could also claim that someone worth 499 million is closer to homelessness than 1 billion dollars), it isn't true in any meaningful sense. One hundred million dollars puts you in the top .01% of wealth in the USA. It's more like .001% worldwide. Most of the people we are discussing are also quite young. If the B is really that important to you, a pop star worth 100 million at 30 will be worth 1 billion by 70 assuming an incredibly modest 6% annual return. For high net worth individuals who invest aggressively, the return is much higher. That's also assuming they stop warning money aside from investments. If your actual concern is wealth hoarding and exploration, the centimillionaire class holds FAR more global wealth than the billionaire class and they do all the same things.
  16. All this + maintained cultural relevance. Many stars flop and then also fade into relevancy oblivion. Sometimes it's for the wrong reasons, but Katy is still very much a cultural figure. Her early catalogue has also enjoyed enormous success over the last decade. She'll forever be a pop staple. Bigger and more relevant than similar artists. Even ATRLers continued obsession with her indicates that.
  17. Is this not because the Billboard chart simply reflects a tracking week that cut off on Friday? This is a real time, daily update. If she holds until Friday it will also be number 1 on Billboard, no?
  18. The morality distinction at one billion is kinda ridiculous. If you stan a pop star worth hundreds of millions of dollars, you have no moral high ground. Many pop girls attain their wealth through business ventures too like clothes, makeup, or perfume. If you must ethics Olympics it, I'd rather stan someone whose billion dollar wealth is primarily theoretical and derived from the value of a possession that's illiquid like master recordings and not someone who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars for selling makeup. ATRL cares more about the stan wars and gotchas than the principles though so exploitative mega corporations are fine as long as it's their fave and the net worth doesn't manage to get to a B.
  19. 17 year spread since her first overall radio number 1 . That's on the best longevity and maintained relevance in music industry history.
