Is Taylor irrelevant now?
What "most female artists" have albums with the success and longevity of Midnights, TTPD, and TLOAS . Midnights just made Taylor the first artist in history to have 9 albums with 200 weeks. TTPD will get there next. The next closest woman has 3 btw.

How are your math skills? (Americans only)
I got a special award in 8th grade for having the highest grade on the state Algebra 1 exam in my county across all the schools I could do math but never enjoyed it. Stopped after calculus (but I did earn an A).

'Bloody Mary' certified Platinum in the UK
This is like the only good thing social media has done for the music industry. I would still say it is an overwhelming net negative and seeing old songs clog up the charts is depressing, but you have to be happy for a masterpiece getting the flowers it originally deserved.

Who debuts at #1: Taylor&Charli VS Gaga&Katy VS Bey&Rih VS Tate&Britney & more!
If Taylor had lifted a finger with Ophelia she could've done close to 1000 points. No remixes, no versions. She didn't even sell it digitally. Has anything else even done over 500 in the last 3 years? Choosin' Texas is one of the most dominant number 1s ever and I don't think it has cracked it. Drake didn't either. Ophelia did 700 with one version and 0 sales. It could be Taylor feat. a random woman on the street and would go number 1 against anyone else.

What demos are better than the actual song?

What demos are better than the actual song?
Seconding literally every ARTPOP demo we heard. Sexxx Dreams, Aura, Dope, and ARTPOP were all MUCH better as demos. I even prefer the MANiCURE and MJH demos.

The Guardian: "Olivia stands up for the vulnerable. I wish Taylor Swift did the same"
I don't disagree with this sentiment, but Taylor's catalogue is currently valued at 900 million + dollars. That is an illiquid asset. It's not like it's even stock. It has no value unless she sells it and the value of that asset alone basically makes her a billionaire. I think demanding she sell the rights to her own art that she worked so incredibly hard to acquire is absurd. I don't think it's unreasonable to admit that the origin of the money makes a difference. Taylor doesn't own or run any company. The VAST majority of her wealth comes from the value of her musical catalogue, touring, and music royalties. It's much more akin to a salary than. the passive wealth/value wealth most billionaires have. Even her fellow super-rich celebrities mostly become so from the value of companies. Taylor's music itself and touring generates a lot more money than any of her peers. Dolly didn't found Imagination Library until she was 49-years-old. As Taylor shifts away from the zenith of her professional career, I expect we will see her become even more philanthropic.

ATRL verdict: Bass Persuades
The phrase "cuntslop" is frying me, what a wordsmith @ScorpiosGroove OT: I don't hate it. I always want to like Miley music more than I do, though. Midnight Sky >>>

Taylor Swift
I just added the TOTC units and IKI,IKY is currently at 1.722 million in the US. It should cross double platinum in ~4 weeks. Less than four months. Abracadabra took about 11 months. Need y'all to start standing on business for the good sis! Hopefully Disney is quick about certifying…I'd give anything for Taylor to give af about certifying her singles. The way she'd immediately become the best selling artist in history.

Taylor Swift
I Knew It, I Knew You = 13 weeks top 3 Million Reasons + Stupid Love + Rain On Me + Shallow + Rain On Me = 13 weeks top 10 No wonder the 2nd fanbase is fuming!

Taylor Swift
Speaking of melted OTH brains... I love that IKI,IKY is such a smash in the US and how much it's killing them. In 20 years, literally no one will care where the song was charting on Spotify on its 100th day of release. Just like no one IRL cares now! The song is widely known, associated with a beloved franchise, and well received. It doesn't exploit any streaming trick that every single country song in the US isn't already exploiting. It has a nearly identical ratio of its streams coming from outside Spotify as Boston and several Morgan Wallen songs. The song spent ~8 weeks in the top 10 of the streaming chart and is still 18 months after release with two Dolly songs currently ahead of it. The song also debuted at number 1 without any additional versions and had a 100 point lead! Mariah begged, borrowed, and stole her way to her number 1s record and you don't even see people on fan forums like this pointing that out 20 years later. Oh, I Smashed It, I Slew You! The meltdowns over the incoming Grammy (and possibly Oscar hi hi) will be delicious!

TTPD vs petal
TTPD is a much, much better album. HTIMYLM is by far the best single, but Fortnight and Broken Heart are both better than Petal.
- Shakira surpasses Taylor on Youtube. Reclaims her crown as #1 female artist ever

Taylor Swift
I genuinely think the snark internet echo chamber about Taylor (literally ~100k dumb ******* telling each other "No, exactly") would say folklore was try hard and desperate if it had been released in the place of Showgirl last year. No serious person thinks one of the alleged worst albums of all time contains Ophelia, Opalite, ET, Father Figure, Ruin The Friendship, Honey, and the title track. Wi$h Li$t is great too when you don't have a dumb ***** in your ear virtue signaling about things they don't actually care about! The critical reception for Showgirl was classified as mixed to positive! Remove the Rolling Stone review and she's still green on Metacritic. Did y'all know that there isn't a single Metacritic review characterized as negative? I am being 100% serious when I say some users on here should consider processional help regarding how they feel about a pop star who is literally no better or worse morally than any of the other fabulously wealthy pop stars they worship.
-
Taylor Swift
Watching the Monsters and Hive fight in that solo streaming thread and realizing Ophelia + Opalite alone outstreamed the solo totals of both albums. Ophelia alone getting very close to Cowboy Carter solo. But Taylor's over, right?

Pop Girls' most recent album streams with and without collabs, thoughts?
Girl, hide this! They're gonna come after Mayhem instead of Katy.

The Guardian: "Olivia stands up for the vulnerable. I wish Taylor Swift did the same"
"Taylor is pure evil" in here and she, Gaga, Beyonce, and the entire old guard are basically indistinguishable from one another as normie Dems. The obsession is getting weird and even more parasocial than psychotic fans. Like, why does this article need to mention Taylor at all? The way Taylor has even given away hundreds of millions of dollars in the last five years

Are the three 3 singles from YSPSFAGSIL hits??
I would say yes. But people need to be more consistent about this definition. Usually it is applied thus: "Is the song with decent stats by an artist I like? Yes? Hit. No? Flop." Crossing 1 billion in ~one year (and I don't think all three will do this, drop dead is likely) is a Manchild/Opalite level hit in terms of consumption. I'd call that a moderate hit for pre-2024 standards and a solid/genuine hit for 25/26 streams, especially for solo female pop. That context matters. I also think people like to selectively use chart runs/consumption depending on what favors their favorite artists/allows them to drag artists they don't like. Chart runs will always have some importance, but I personally think consumption matters more. But their lackluster chart performance is notable. Feel more like Billie slow burn hits than songs that had a big moment. But that's unequivocally still a hit IMO.
- With how many weeks at #1 will "Choosin' Texas" end?

Taylor Swift
The LAYERS to this post. Taylor approaching number 1 on country radio for the first time in nearly 15 years just like Odysseus returning to Ithaca!
-
With how many weeks at #1 will "Choosin' Texas" end?
I mean sure, in a sense. But that's also because of airplay which many people also hate. Didn't Taylor, Ariana, Drake, and Olivia all also debut at number 1 on streaming? You could make the same case for endless songs, especially ones that must endure the Christmas freeze. That's all just part of it. OT: I'd guess she'll get to 30.

Millennial MPGs and their most-streamed songs - rank from best to worst.
Cruel Summer We Found Love Someone Like You Toxic Summertime Sadness Halo 7 Rings Dark Horse Die With A Smile I don't think DWAS is bad, it's just NOT my type of music. Probably my least favorite of Gaga's 20 most streamed. Would never willingly put it on, but would hum along if I heard it in public. Otherwise a very strong list!
