What are you listening to right now?
back on 1996, long time since i heard this (worse than i remember it tbh)
-
Gracie Abrams - 'Daughter from Hell'
i loved secret of us cos it's so hooky but also full of all that anxious perspective so i was a bit wary of this but i'm a third of the way thru and...it seems alright? i wasn't expecting it to be full of tunes so actually the fact that it's got some is a bonus, could do with more bangers but i can see myself enjoying it a lot once its played in, agree that she could do with moving on from dessner (why do these girls always use the same half a dozen producers?!)

What are your favourite '90s albums?
a few more, some obvious, some a bit lost to time
- When is it too early for an engagement with my boyfriend?

If everyone's fave has already peaked, what are stans actually fighting for?
maybe they just aren't very nice?

Twitter was launched 20 years ago, post your favorite tweet
- Why Michael/Janet and Madonna/Britney still feel like a underperformance?
scream more of a rep now, michael was already falling off commercially at that point for fairly obvious reasons tho personally i think MATM is a bop and better than its numbers- Michael Jackson stans accuse Virgin Airlines of disrespectful page for biopic

to commemorate getting all the way thru stripped just once, honestly this thing lasts for years- Best anti-Britney debut
one of the things i really like about the best damn thing is that she stops performing "being authentic" and just starts playing up being a brat who's not like the other girls, which is basically her interview persona from her early career anyway. for all everyone bitched about her going pop or whatever it feels a lot more authentic to what she's like (OT: it's a thousand miles ffs!)- Taylor Swift
i got it on the 1989 TV vinyl cos i saw it cheap but i'm not a completionist, feel like i got one over on everyone now- UK Midweek: Rein Me In #1x17, 3 Lions #2, Shakira #5; Albums: Rolling Stones #1
danger days is a reissue campaign but they've been touring here as well- Britney Spears
i think the danger with britney is that it gets airbrushed like the amy winehouse and whitney biopics and ends up not being as interesting as the real thing, where neither were as good as the high profile documentaries made about them. there'll be a lot of backroom lobbying from people who come out of this very badly (see also what happened with michael, which i think initially drew in some of his "controversies" and was eventually cut to ribbons) in fact given how well known britney's story is and how hard it would be to cast her as responsible for what happened during the conservatorship, it might even be that it gets tied up in lawsuits and/or canned rather than a whitewash? i guess that it's all out there in print already but i don't think that's ever stopped anyone hiring a lawyer the book itself i thought was really harrowing, i read it twice and the second half is nightmarish, i do wonder what sort of happy ending they'll try to give her- Britney Spears
i'd think just given the huge success of "the woman in me" memoir they'd be cueing up to throw money at this thing- What are you listening to right now?
dig RO out every so often, think "it's alright isn't it", don't listen to it for another 6 months - Why Michael/Janet and Madonna/Britney still feel like a underperformance?
