Can someone explain to me why there are users foaming at the mouth running mental gymnastics trying to disprove a song that's top 10 streaming 8 weeks after release? I'm pretty sure that billboard confirms the numbers it's using are legitimate. This is cringe.

Why are you so riled up over this? There's less than a 2 million stream difference between 50 and 10 this week on US Spotify (all between 3.2 and 5.2 million), and then a greater than 5 million difference between 10 and 1. The exact thing you're talking about with Apple's streams being more compressed between songs lower than Top X spots is true on Spotify too, especially after the APK crackdown last year. @DevilsRollTheDice is also right in pointing out that there's traditionally a different lean on different platforms. We all know that Drake historically has had a chokehold on AM, then performs good on Spotify. Similarly, Morgan Wallen has always been strong on Amazon. This isn't new information. This forum pays attention to AM and Spotify the most because that's where the pop music tends to perform best. I think you have a point that the audience for Amazon is going to be more passive, but spending a whole page going back and forth arguing a point that's not a lie in a thread you can literally avoid is WILD to me. If it was so easy to manipulate your way to top 10, we'd have a lot more songs doing just that I would think, but maybe I'm wrong and it's just this song that can "fraud" its way to the top of the charts, no one else.

It's also had 6 more months to sit with you which might be skewing perception. I feel like I've heard IKI,IKY more times in public in two months than I have either of the Bruno Mars songs in 8 months. May also just be a regional difference.

I think you're comparing her to primarily vocal powerhouses, most of which were never lauded for their songwriting but rather their vocal talent/range. She's going to live on with people who resonate with the lyrics and songwriters like Carole King, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks etc. it's a different kind of legend than Celine, Whitney, Mariah, etc who are vocal divas, but it doesn't mean she won't live on. She's got performances that showcase the evocative performances she gives, they don't have to be belting runs to make people feel something. There's plenty of them that circulate social media, so my thought is if you've seen them and they haven't resonated with you, then it's not for you, and that's okay.

You can say you don't get it and that's okay. Not everything is meant for you.

Sometimes when I see these confessions, I wonder if I'll be doing the same to TLOAS in a couple years. It's quite humbling.
