serena joy bombed, why?

Featured Replies

pretty sure serena joy is not made to be a hit anyways, it's a political song and that's it

Imagine thinking a politically charged song released on a Monday would become a hit in this current era. I know some fans are unfamiliar with the concept but you can release a song without aiming for

  • From Friday to Sunday it was only available as 500 CD copies from one record store. It was eventually put on streaming halfway through Monday. If she cared about maintaining the streak of all her song

well as a political statement it is very lukewarm and kinda says nothing, so I guess it bombed at that too

No radio payola

Many songs would be considered a flop without it.

Or her core audience is using ChatGPT & TikTok for searches over Google lakitu

Tiktok: 1.9-2.2b

We're not falling for this propaganda that young people don't use Google. Yes, its market share IS decreasing, but to say it is not used or not reflective of trends is a lie. It still has the majority share and by far.

Last year Tiktok overtook Google for local searches in the USA (aka people searching for restaurants and sightseeing stuff) among Gen Z but anyone who read the actual article would see there was only a 1% difference between the two and most people polled said they used both skull

And finally, GT does not just count Google searches, it also counts YouTube, YT Music and more importantly it includes the number of posts/articles that are added to the search index which can include news articles and social media posts on other platforms lakitu

The fact that she made a politically charged song and NOBODY moved says everything about her

It could be worse. She could've released a heavily promoted single for one of the biggest movies of 2026 and no one would move except the bots on Deezer and Pandora.

Yeah, a flop soundtrack and a failed politically charged song tells the same about an artist's impact.

OTHs and their lack of brain cells

I have a feeling Olivia is not as big as her streaming numbers suggest.

There's something fishy going on with streaming algorithms and the push that young, new artists receive.

I checked Olivia on Google Trends the other day and she is basically non-existent in terms of WW searches (even under Katy in 2026). Her peak during her album release was also lower than C2 rip

Her celebrity profile is still quite low imo. Maybe she needs a high profile relationship or some kind of scandal. Though Billie feels much bigger and didn't have any of that so I dunno

It's a charity single to draw attention to her festival. It did its thing

Love her but honestly it’s one of her worst songs. Lyrically it doesn’t go deep enough and the melody isn’t that interesting

I noticed most younger people use tiktok as a search engine instead of Google, my gen z colleagues always show me news and products they search on tiktok

Billie makes so much buzz with her random statements

For better and for the worse , Olivia is very media trained and strives to avoid controversy. But that also means avoiding press attention controversy brings. The bread and butter of so many pop girls

But anyway , most pop girls political songs flop just like most sound track singles. It's similar not what their fans are fans of

just because one song underperforms, it does not mean that writes off 3 albums' success

also, i feel like there's a very few charity / political statement songs that become big hits + it's not like this was some highly promotedsmash waiting to happen

Autoplay was renewed for one day only

The "random Friday" in question being the day it was included in "New Music Friday" playlists and a lot of people learned it was released.

Come on now, let's use some reasoning for once.
