even though both are huge international smashes, flowers just feels bigger than the fate of ophelia, imo. ophelia is Taylor's biggest hit this decade, and it did feel so, but tbh, to me, it also felt like an extension of the humongous success she's already seen this decade - taylormania, the eras tour, midnights, all these records, her reaching a whole new peak in success / commerciality this decade. and i don't mean that to undermine or take away from how big the song itself was. but flowers just felt like a bigger cultural moment. also, it was such a significant huge hit for Miley after a long while.
