serena joy bombed, why?

Featured Replies

Olivia is supposed to be the biggest female artist from the year. However, her latest song Serena Joy is not predicted to chart on the Hot 100 (her first actually) and is already out of Global Spotify.

All of this after having massive exposure in a whole festival of hers, decent playlisting and referencing a popular show. Should the u + Me = <3 songstress worry?

  • Imagine thinking a politically charged song released on a Monday would become a hit in this current era. I know some fans are unfamiliar with the concept but you can release a song without aiming for

  • well as a political statement it is very lukewarm and kinda says nothing, so I guess it bombed at that too

Autoplay was renewed for one day only

Neither Serena Joy nor purple (happy version) were intended to be hits. Their purpose was to add to the money raised by Daisy Chain Fields and, with the former, make a political statement.

You would have to be illiterate to miss the statement it makes.

I know we're all still waiting on another artist to make a statement on a certain issue though, AbracadaBer zendaya

I have a feeling Olivia is not as big as her streaming numbers suggest.

There's something fishy going on with streaming algorithms and the push that young, new artists receive.

I checked Olivia on Google Trends the other day and she is basically non-existent in terms of WW searches (even under Katy in 2026). Her peak during her album release was also lower than C2 rip

This is for Daisy Fields, she doesn't care about this song being a hit.

Now this is the investigative gay journalism I visit this forum for tbh.

ATRL only seems to care about sucess. the song is for a cause and it did what it had to do.

Mind you she have currently have other 3 songs in the Top 20 / Top 50

Imagine thinking a politically charged song released on a Monday would become a hit in this current era. I know some fans are unfamiliar with the concept but you can release a song without aiming for it to be a hit especially when your smash acclaimed 3rd album is serving incredible longevity

Google Trends counts searches on YT (both video and YT music) which is at least two forms of music consumption coffee2

Also big artists just tend to make buzz when they release an album, generating news articles, social media posts, etc. These all contribute to Trends.

Exactly, plus it's a charity song so (sadly) less incentive from Olivia's label to playlist and promote it.

Or her core audience is using ChatGPT & TikTok for searches over Google lakitu
