The HQ Thread | 2026
As I state in my second reply to Devin, I didn't assume that it was Dear Reader who sent the reminder ("nah it's ok i assumed that [it wasn't Dear Reader]. thank you tho"). The reminder came through a good number hours after the exchange with Dear Reader, so I knew it wasn't Dear Reader or else they would have sent it at the time it was happening. That was absolutely not the issue. I genuinely had never received a blank reminder/WP before and thought it's either some mistake/glitch (Dear Reader had also referred to me as "arrogant" in the same thread, so I wasn't sure if calling them slothful was what got me the reminder if low-level insults like that are posted by staff) or the mod forgot to select enter the reason for it. A current discussion point on the forum is that I Knew It, I Knew You is higher than would be expected on both the Hot 100 and the Streaming Chart given it has been very low on Spotify and Apple Music for weeks, and a running joke is that it's being payola'd on less significant platforms like Amazon Music, Pandora and Deezer. The thread the discussion took place in was asking why Ophelia was higher than HTIMYLM on Amazon Music and earlier in that thread people had said Amazon Music is more popular with Republicans. All I did, in a base thread, was point to a comment that the Guardian and Vox have reported was made on Taylor's MySpace from 2008 and compare it with Ariana endorsing Bernie in 2020. It was not a serious post from me and not worthy of serious debate I don't have an issue with you either Rian, but I do feel I am slightly through the looking glass when I ask honest questions in HQ, whether it was asking Dear Reader last month what their reply to my query was given they immediately deleted it, or whether it was why I'd received a blank reminder, and it leads to these kind of situations. I don't feel I'm being petty in asking those questions – I thought that was the whole point of the thread – and I haven't queried the vast majority of my warnings and reminders. Devin was perfectly helpful in that respect, but I don't think it's petty when Dear Reader accused me of dishonesty today that I set the record straight. I appreciate that so-called 'answering back' to a mod isn't allowed in this thread, but I don't think it's reasonable or realistic for anyone to simply sit back and accept a false allegation of dishonesty. This is my last post on the matter – I'm absolutely not going to drag it out, and in the previous interactions that I posted you can see I made efforts to shut the two exchanges down when they got heated. I just wanted to 1) correct the record on what my query in this thread actually was (and that it was made sincerely), 2) emphasise that my Taylor and Ariana comparison was made in jest in a meaningless base thread (and was very similar to other jokes made earlier in the thread), 3) give some context on why I even made that comparison, and 4) show that I only felt I had to reply to Dear Reader here because they accused me of dishonesty.

thanks for agreeing not to interact with me anymore. what i initially posted wasn't a lie. you can keep insisting that but if you google taylor swift + the phrase you will get pages of links about it. a user even provided one such link to you. what was a lie was your claim to have already googled it before you disingenuously posted "source?" just because you don't like the idea of taylor swift having written "Republicans do it better" on MySpace (https://www.vox.com/2015/2/10/8012953/obama-shake-it-off; https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/nov/24/the-guardian-view-on-taylor-swift-an-envoy-for-trumps-values). if you had googled it then you wouldn't still be saying it was a claim that i personally made up when the original comment is from 2008 and articles have mentioned it from decades you replied to my original post so i replied back to you, and didn't want to proceed since it was derailing the topic of the thread (which was why is ophelia charting higher than htimylm on amazon music) which is why i left the discussion on a downvote rather than another reply, not because i couldn't have answered if i wanted to. that's de-escalation and you should start practicing it more if you don't want feedback about your unconciliatory nature making you a poor fit to moderate an online community. my point about the ignore feature was that i'd rather your posts would stay automatically collapsed as they do with ignored regular users. that thread wasn't the place for a back-and-forth debate over that specific point. if you sincerely wanted a debate you could've messaged me or followed it up in SYG or something, not insist on disrupting the thread. you were disingenuous when you quickly posted and deleted a reply to me weeks ago, and you were disingenuous earlier today. my behaviour is not a pattern of dishonesty but yours is, but i hope you can learn from it and grow. "Your constant need of complaining about your warnings in HQ and doubting every single moderation decision is bizarre too." i've done it like three times in two months, and if you look at my (somewhat extensive) warning point history and how many posts i've made in hq questioning them, you would see your statement is patently false. i would prefer to ask for feedback on WPs and decisions i'm not sure about privately through help requests but that's not an option. sorry if doing it publicly is a poor reflection of you, but maybe it's not a bad thing. more transparency can be good. anyway, that's my last word to you and i'll see if i can find other solutions so i don't have to see your content.

nah it's ok i assumed that. thank you tho. the whole interaction was slightly bizarre in isolation, but it's the second encounter i've had with the same mod where they kept escalating things after i said i didnt want to continue the discussion/it was disruptive, and my third encounter with them in total (my first was a minor whacking of them that gained a lot of upvotes after they were rude to another user). maybe that's where this pattern of behaviour comes from but i'd appreciate if they didnt interact with me anymore and if the admin made it so when someone became a mod they werent taken off a user's ignore list
