The only reason people differentiate between "real" singles and "deluxe" singles is because deluxe ones don't usually get that much promotion. Taylor's latest flop got more promotion than most lead singles so that excuse doesn't work.

Her brand has jumped the shark and a huge amount of the women who were following her before are no longer interested. That's the problem with intertwining your dating life so much with your music. All artists write about themselves but all the tabloid antics (mainly the dumbass "Easter eggs" like hiding people's names in the lyrics) turned her music into a plot line that her fans followed. Her whole brand was about finding Prince Charming and now she claims she's found him. Well the fans ain't interested anymore because she's got nothing else to talk about. See ya!

I would've liked for Stupid Song to get more time to be her main song pushed on radio, but this is so exciting I don't even care. And I think that in this streaming era, artists and their teams are probably trying to figure out the best way to keep eras alive as a whole. I think for her, focusing on the album as a project rather than just one or two songs has been working out well.

Billie and Olivia will be around. Chappell's made it clear that she's not interested in having a career as a mega star so it doesn't really matter if she's not topping charts. Sabrina's next era is going to be a huge deciding factor for her longevity. Artists who make fun music usually do well with the GP but don't inspire the same kind of fan loyalty Billie, Olivia, or Chappell's music does.
