We all joke about the #thankyoubruno but a big part of it was the actual song. You can't just put Bruno with any girl and smash, as evident by some of his own stuff not doing that well. The song has to be good and click. And yes, Gaga is capable of making a song like that too as evident by ASIB. Which is why she has had big hits with that sound. If either artist has a good song, they will do well with or without a partner. If the song suck, both can flop. Though Bruno would flop less because of his GP standing. If it's this exact song DWAS, you can replace Gaga with Ariana, Adele, maybe Billie and have a similar effect. Beyonce probably not because like mentioned, she wouldn't pull her weight in videos, performance promotion etc.

To be fair Madonna is not a good example as she is an exception. She is literally the biggest female legend. I can only imagine Beyonce or Taylor Swift doing something like that.

Something between underperformance and flop. It's numbers are not horrible, so it's not a true flop. But the amount of effort, money, promotion, hype, all to be rejected is more in line with a flop. But the numbers are more in line with underperformance

Exactly. A better question would be why did Gaga and Madonna spend their entire careers specializing in dance music only for Beyonce, who's roots are in R&B, to come in and destroy them both with ease.

Leave Beyonce out of this stanwar. Confession 2 is closer to Chromatica than Rennasiance in both acclaim and sales.
