Troye Sivan - "Party"

Featured Replies

The use of the sample is gonna be so jarring, since it's one of Madonna's signature songs! He could have used a deep cut bfrr

  • Is he releasing an album or a podcast?

  • I feel like Charli XCX & him were drunk then decide to make troll music that both actually promised to release this year.

  • many people were skeptical about the sample in Got Me Started and it's one of his best songs so let's not judge too quickly

Sounds like the Madonna sample is the only good part of the song. At that point might as well just listen to Music.

Good on him for doing what he wants, but it's def not for me.

I don't really get how Party is so offputting to people at all.

because people enjoy his melodic music, clearly.

if people were only listening to him for "vibes" you wouldn't see the large pushback people are giving this and STB. i personally think he needed to switch it up after his last album was kind of an amalgamation of the two projects before it. but this was not the move, as we can see from the reaction to it.

he has a very specific niche of lo-fi melodic dreampop that people come to him for. its a very big swing to dramatically alienate your fanbase just to make party music that isn't going to be well-recieved by critics OR fans rip

at least his visuals are still on point. Gordon and Stuart are truly saving the day

ever since he hired gordon von steiner and stuart winecoff his videos have been immaculate so i'm looking forward to the visual!

This is understandable but Party doesn't sound very off from Rush/Talk Talk remix to me for a single. The title track was very out ther for sure tho. Based on the album listening party reactions I think people will be getting more of the dream pop sound they want from him, just not from the first two singles. Everyone in attendance said this song (Party) was their favorite though.

She’s the Best is already getting less daily streams than Rush, Angel Baby, One of Your Girls, & Strawberries & Cigarettes. Let’s hope this is a better song & does better commercially

truly some of the best videos I've ever seen. hope they also did party too. never understood why one of the girls was done by an entirely different team

These snippets are... rough, to say the least rip I'm kinda mad at society for making BRAT what it was. Charli, Troye, etc. were at their best when they were making big angsty pop songs, and now the trend that everyone wants to follow is disinterested talk-singing on a GarageBand beat. It's tacky and obnoxious, and I feel like we're going to remember it as such when we look back on this decade.
