Frankly only a part of the gay community knew & cared about the (still evil) Dr. Luke situation, and the dumb Blue Origin spaceflight happened later. People hated Woman's World because of its assumed-AI lyrical content and being at least a decade late with its approach to feminism. The other music was also extremely bland. The only songs that anyone remotely enjoyed were I'm His and Wonder, and not enough for them to be hits.

I think it was interesting when Taylor did it the first couple times, when it was a whole event with fans literally going to her house. Obviously that's an insane security risk that she & other artists will probably never do again, but it's cool to think about. Nowadays you just see a tweet that's like "Grace McLady held a listening party for her album last week" accompanied by extreme praise & vague sound descriptions that don't end up being true in the slightest. And then everyone moves on

That's So Raven is like the one show of that genre & era that this argument doesn't apply to She was very much written as a black character, using AAVE, listening to (legally distinct) Beyonce, being discriminated against by a business for her race, and having a dad who makes soul food. I really do think her wife is a bad influence and intentionally diminishes Raven's success and what she meant to families at the time, whether it's to make them feel equal or whatever else. You can see that here with how she's inserting herself and restating that "it's white men!" that were responsible for the show. She's also very proud that she didn't grow up with That's So Raven, but did grow up with Even Stevens, implying she changed the channel whenever Raven came on.

Not true. Red Hill Records & Java Records both dissolved completely while she was on their rosters, and they lacked the means to promote her anyways. Columbia had that exact issue I mentioned, sitting on her because they didn't know how to market her as an artist, and after they gave up, one of their execs still believed in her enough to recommend her album to Capitol Records.

It's not that they rejected her, but she didn't have a clear image and they didn't know how to present/market her, so they just sat and waited. The eventual rebrand with the pinup girl/Katy Keene-adjacent aesthetic for One of the Boys-onward was really smart

I always felt like BTW and Express Yourself weren't that similar and the whole thing was constructed by bitter Madonna fans It's different enough that a plagiarism lawsuit would get thrown out immediately. Meanwhile everyone swings in the complete opposite direction when it comes to stuff like the Dua Lipa cases, where the similarities are audible on first listen, or the Taylor/Olivia situation, where the similarity was confirmed intentional and Olivia did a livestream where she said "great artists steal" and used copying Taylor as the sole example.

And you just know that if Nicki switched sides and endorsed a left-wing candidate, those same fans would be posting like "Waitttt she's right actually. Trump is weird. Thanks for opening our eyes Nicki!!! 😍"

Nicki is genuinely a cult leader, the way she intentionally fosters this parasocial (paid) fan community with herself as the leader, with no regard for how her influence will make the world a worse place to live in. Truly the Donald Trump of pop/rap

I think every fanbase exaggerates their fave's position to an extent. Like why are Madonna fans always throwing stones at her younger peers, when she hasn't been a GP artist since 2008, and her 'return to form' was a reboot project specifically catered towards & marketed on Grindr

I think it would've been better if it were animated the whole way through. The glamour shots & exaggerated scenes of her playing a video game were completely unnecessary

I think she mentioned at some point that she was depressed as **** & in a bad relationship this entire era, and that she made songs like Orange Trees and Enjoy Your Life as a coping mechanism, trying to force herself to seem/be happy So it makes sense that it doesn't sound like her and doesn't feel natural whatsoever

She doesn't have the material, but she's having a lot of stars align in her favor. Lush Life re-emerging, her hopping that remix during PinkPantheress's breakthrough moment, and so on. Midnight Sun, Crush, Pretty Ugly were literally destined to be forgotten about, and then Stan Twitter started spamming them as a joke until they accidentally became viral hits, just like with Gracie Abrams and Audrey Hobert

She was on a major label & making sex songs for the clubs. I think she gets a pass
