Katy Perry: a flop before the fame, a flop after the fame?
Not true. Red Hill Records & Java Records both dissolved completely while she was on their rosters, and they lacked the means to promote her anyways. Columbia had that exact issue I mentioned, sitting on her because they didn't know how to market her as an artist, and after they gave up, one of their execs still believed in her enough to recommend her album to Capitol Records.

Remember when Madonna called Gaga's 'Born This Way' reductive… did she have a point?
I always felt like BTW and Express Yourself weren't that similar and the whole thing was constructed by bitter Madonna fans It's different enough that a plagiarism lawsuit would get thrown out immediately. Meanwhile everyone swings in the complete opposite direction when it comes to stuff like the Dua Lipa cases, where the similarities are audible on first listen, or the Taylor/Olivia situation, where the similarity was confirmed intentional and Olivia did a livestream where she said "great artists steal" and used copying Taylor as the sole example.

Nicki Minaj (Move Ya Hips) posts report card prompt for Barbz, what's your grade?
And you just know that if Nicki switched sides and endorsed a left-wing candidate, those same fans would be posting like "Waitttt she's right actually. Trump is weird. Thanks for opening our eyes Nicki!!! 😍"

Nicki Minaj (Move Ya Hips) posts report card prompt for Barbz, what's your grade?
Nicki is genuinely a cult leader, the way she intentionally fosters this parasocial (paid) fan community with herself as the leader, with no regard for how her influence will make the world a worse place to live in. Truly the Donald Trump of pop/rap

Is this the worst MV ever released by a pop girl?
The constant cutting away from the song & lowering the volume of the song in favor of the ad The audacity to call this a music video
-
Is this the worst MV ever released by a pop girl?
I think it would've been better if it were animated the whole way through. The glamour shots & exaggerated scenes of her playing a video game were completely unnecessary

Is this the worst MV ever released by a pop girl?
I think she mentioned at some point that she was depressed as **** & in a bad relationship this entire era, and that she made songs like Orange Trees and Enjoy Your Life as a coping mechanism, trying to force herself to seem/be happy So it makes sense that it doesn't sound like her and doesn't feel natural whatsoever

Zara Larsson is a superstar with a mediocre catalogue, why?
She doesn't have the material, but she's having a lot of stars align in her favor. Lush Life re-emerging, her hopping that remix during PinkPantheress's breakthrough moment, and so on. Midnight Sun, Crush, Pretty Ugly were literally destined to be forgotten about, and then Stan Twitter started spamming them as a joke until they accidentally became viral hits, just like with Gracie Abrams and Audrey Hobert

Taylor Swift
I have been seeing way too many idiots comparing Olivia & Taylor, commending Olivia for donating $10 million of "her own money" (AKA the total proceeds from a 14-artist event) and insulting Taylor for not doing the same (even though she's always donating and just doesn't gloat about it) The mass hysteria whenever Olivia's active again and the Sabrina/Paramore/Taylor conversations get revived is unreal

The Fear by Lily Allen vs. Primadonna by Marina
I love both artists, both albums, both songs, but I have to give it to The Fear

Chromatica: the laziest album cycle ever?
The way I see it, Chromatica wasn't really true to what Gaga wanted to make. She mentioned in the past that she was recording a different album initially & that BloodPop told her it was bad and to start from scratch, and at least some songs (namely 1000 Doves) have a totally sound than Gaga desired when she recorded them. Imo, the visual concept with the neon colors also wasn't very true to Gaga's personal style, and felt more like self-parody, like Gaga had lost touch with what "Lady Gaga" means to her after ARTPOP. The more serious rebranding of Chromatica with 911 and the tour feels a lot more like Gaga to me, and a lot more cohesive with earlier stuff like TFM/BTW & now MAYHEM.
