Even putting aside legacy and longevity of the two artists, tracks on Confessions 2 like Fragile or Betrayal remind me why Gaga will never be on Madonna's level creatively. Gaga simply isn't capable of writing stuff like Live to Tell, Oh Father, Power of Goodbye, Masterpiece, Fragile, Betrayel etc.

Confessions II was a lot more immediate to me, but I think it'll burn out faster. Mayhem was a weird start for me but has longevity, I'm still listening to it.

That's because she's surface level and empty. The costumes. and attention-seeking are her attempts to distract from that.

Embarrassing. All pop stars give a lot of power to their producers. Some do it smarter than others.

The track by track comparison doesn't make sense for this either. Though I think C2 wins even in track by track, it biases towards Mayhem which is much less cohesive than C2. The major appeal of C2 is that has a seamless arc, track by track doesn't capture that

Honestly, they're both exceptional and it's too early into Confessions II's life cycle for me to really tell. As such I refuse to choose a side yet, both are returns to form by some of the greatest pop artists ever to do it and we should just be happy we got either one, let alone two spectacular albums like these! Everybody get up and dance!

CONFESSIONS II definitely.

I feel like as a whole Confessions 2 is more cohesive while Mayhem is very eclectic. I think Gaga got lost while producing Mayhem while Madonna was really into a directive line and really focused on it and just because of that she wins in that battle
