After Hours, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow are all great albums. Also, I don't think he was ever planning to retire from music, just drop the Weeknd name and I guess this means he might be reconsidering if he wants to keep it.

Even putting aside legacy and longevity of the two artists, tracks on Confessions 2 like Fragile or Betrayal remind me why Gaga will never be on Madonna's level creatively. Gaga simply isn't capable of writing stuff like Live to Tell, Oh Father, Power of Goodbye, Masterpiece, Fragile, Betrayel etc.
