The answer is in the album title itself

Outside ATRL: great album, well reviewed, swifties liked it, the gp liked it, AOTY

On ATRL: oxygen2clownworst album of all times psyduck

I feel like the AOTY was awarded due to Eras Tour hype + Taylormania rather than the album itself being amazing, it's pretty dreary and forgettable

I find this album to be such an easy listen. It's great in the car, and has some of my favourite Taylor songs like Maroon and YOYOK. It's probably the last album of hers I liked a lot.

10/10 for me. AOTY winning universally acclaimed album. Not everyone can have that hippo

It's definitely her best effort since reputation. I like the 3AM tracks a lot

Anti-Hero, Maroon, You're On Your Own Kid, Lavender Haze, Midnight Rain, Bejeweled, Karma, The Great War, Bigger Than The Whole Sky, Paris, High Infidelity, Would've, Could've, Should've, Dear Reader, Hits Different, Your Losing Me, Hits Different…Oh, GODnights!

A universally acclaimed AOTY, not everyone has that!

i really didn't like it when it came out but i have a lot more time for it since we didn't the taylor rate. for an album that's such a mega seller it is extremely low key and vibey, which is not really my thing but in the end i think that's actually its strength, it's quite distinct in the taylor catalogue.

there's a sense in which it's not really beating the background music allegations but it's sneaky as well, songs like yr on yr own kid, snow on the beach and sweet nothing really creep up on you (taylor always brings the hooks even when you think she doesn't). it's not really AOTY material but it's good and its aged well so far

her best pop album along 1989 tbh… The Lavender Haze - Karma run is immaculate

It's probably the best and most consistent of the trio of albums she's released post-Taylormania, though it's got some really bad songs that stand out and drag the overall quality down. Definitely did not deserve AOTY over SOS

AOTY for a reason. 0 skips. Dear Reader is one of Taylor's best songs ever. clap3

Midnights is great idc...the songs were catchy and fun! It's one of my faves from her.

So boring, most of the songs blend into one another. TTPD was way more interesting than this

I really only like it until Karma, minus tracks 5, 7, and 10.

This is exactly my journey with the album

It turned into something bigger
Somewhere in the haze, got a sense I'd been betrayed
Your finger on my hair pin triggers
Soldier down on that icy ground
Looked up at me with honor and truth
Broken and blue, so I called off the troops
That was the night I nearly lost you
I really thought I lost you

We can plant a memory garden
Say a solemn prayer, place a poppy in my hair
There's no morning glory, it was war, it wasn't fair
And we will never go back

To that bloodshed, crimson clover
Uh-huh, the worst was over
My hand was the one you reached for
All throughout the Great War heart
