It's MID painfully average.

Does not reach the heights of her 2010s pop at all imo. There's a reason that Cruel Summer, an old single from the previous decade, blew up during its campaign.

It's Top 2 Taylor album for me, with folklore being number 1.

I love that this album blends everything her fans enjoys yet the lyrical quality is still there. As a bigger fan of the later half of her work, I truly believe this was her best pop effort without it being too bloated (TTPD) or being too vapid (TLOAS).

It's cute! It has the misfortune of being the follow up to Folklore and Evermore, but much like Lover, it's overhated imo. It should be the benchmark for Taylor's more standard pop albums imo.

It has some duds but songs like Maroon, Lavender Haze, Midnight Rain, You're On Your Own, Kid and Karma are genuinely solid songs. Even some more divisive ones like Anti-Hero, Vigilante Sh*t, Question..? and Bejeweled are all still decent to great pop songs.

I get why people think it's mid, it doesn't have many VERY high highs present on a lot of her works before Midnights, but I think it's a perfectly serviceable album that I still enjoy to this day. It's certainly nowhere near the tragedies of TTPD/TLOAS.

EDIT: I just saw the poll options, and it definitely didn't deserve AOTY, that should have went to SZA without a doubt tbh.

It feels "phoned in" to me, especially coming after the highs of Folklore and Evermore, but YOYOK is one of my favorite songs ever so there's that.

It's a decent album and has a few highlights. But it doesn't hold a candle to her 2010-2017 output and definitely isn't AOTY material.

I kinda see it as her bridge between the introspective storytelling of Folklore/Evermore mixed with the glittery pop of Lover, but I personally don't revisit it much because it seems so reverse engineered to address criticisms of Lover while trying to make it more accessible than Folklore/Evermore. A case of doing too much to try and please everybody.

It's a really mixed bag. The standard album is like a 5.5/10. YOYOK is amazing, Anti Hero, Lavender Haze and Karma are catchy af, though lyrically patchy at times. I have a soft spot for Question...? (even though i see why people would find it to be a filler). The rest of the standard album is either boring as shite (Mastermind) or straight up bad (Vigilante ****). The deluxe tracks definitely elevate the album with The Great War, Would've Could've Should've, Hits Different and You're Losing Me being some of her best songs of this decade. I guess overall it rounds up to about a 6.8 or 7/10. Still one of her weaker efforts. It's better than both Loser and Life of a Stinker though.

Overrated, didn't deserve the AOTY, but it was the last album of hers I liked.
