  1. Well thank God this era of rap is the most uninspired cheap and tacky. Piss poor production, almost wordplay, just all straight up direct references to drugs crime and sex. Mumble rap has to be the biggest offender. At least we have the likes of JCole, Kendrick saving mainstream rap. Even MTS herself. I remember when hiphop used to play with the sickest most unique beats and soundscapes regardless of lyricism that made their records so timeless. Crank It, Lose Yourself, even a bop like Good Day now we have so much schlop
  2. Amazing album she sounds so much in her prime!!
  3. Confessions II came out at the perfect time because I think she has rehabilitated her image so well shes actually getting mainstream credibility once again well into her 70s this time
  4. Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Olivia Dean, JENNIE, Ella Langley all sharing the Top 10 is crazy. Its crazy how the BLACKPINK girls are all getting their own respectable genuine smash hits omg
  5. Her brother is currently #1 on Spotify Global thats crazy. Future white MJ and Janet levels of slayery incoming
  6. what a whack music video but yes i agrih Everysmash deserves 1B too esp that prechorus!
  7. wdym? The best barometer to determine if a song is good is its chart run!
  8. I think this proves that the general audience loves Ariana's vocal color and will stay for whatever production covers her unholy level of beautiful warm vocal color. My hot take has always been that girls like Ariana, Rihanna, Billie Mariah, are popgirls who benefit more from their beautiful vocal color much more than people give them credit for. We usually credit their agility (Ari, MC) or their swag (Rih) or style (Billie) but I think genuinely their voices just have such a warm and soft perfect for radio listening tone that cuts through whatever production they're given.
  9. Never in my life have I seen an artist's most popular page on Spotify be inundated with initial 'relative' (Top 20-30 peak) chart flops that turned out to be their signature megahits. Into You failing to crack top 10 being one of her 2B megahits on Spotify, One Last Time I remember when this was released as a single and no one kinda paid any attention to it and sort of just fizzled and now its such a massive recurrent smasher. Love Me Harder being her #4 biggest recurrent song is insane it was mainly a radio hit, its crazy how hard its smashed longevity wise! I know Ariana is a MPG but people constantly put her sideways adjacent compared to the 00s chart titans but one thing that sets her apart is by some weird measure her weaker initial chart run singles almost always tend to win out over her initial mega hits. Problem and Bang Bang have poor recurrent streams, even needy has more streams than those 2. Ironically her 'weakest' era chart wise post debut (Dangerous Woman) probably contains her strongest recurrent singles, DW, IY, and S2S all have 1M daily streams and those were outside of S2S lowk flops in 2016. These other songs of hers also deserved to smash really REALLY hard! Ariana has to be my favorite 'radio' hitmaker among all the popgirls I've heard! Such a generational talent can't wait for PETAL!
  10. its not gonna make me stan blondie any less tbh get your coin queen still perched for TS13! Olivia is a great artist too this was a home run record for her whatever deal theyve got going on at the end of the day my Airpods will still be blasting their music
  11. Feels like another kids bop megasmash i fear
  12. TS13 promo shes about to shake the whole world!
  13. They made great music at their peak and they made great pop hooks esp songs like SUGAR and BOOGIE. Theyre basically a hip hop collective that together brand themselves as a boy band. Rappers and r&b singers collaborating as a pop band. Would you stan or is this too straight for ATRL?
  14. Ruby lowk better than ANTI too like hold awn Love Hangover is better than Love on the Brain
  15. I think truthfully, with the very little but true information we have about Taylor Swift. Realistically, she knows that she always wanted to be the biggest popstar of all time, but she knew that she also loved country music and at the same time she also knew that the best steppingstone for her to answer into mainstream pop was to do something like Shania Twain did. All in all I don't think Taylor truly realistically thought that she would eventually be one of the five biggest artists of all time, but I think she was definitely gunning to be a name that would last for a very long time and popular music. I also think in many ways the Covid pandemic was truly the biggest blessing among other artists, the benefited from the pandemic, she was truly the artist that benefited from it the most given how much of a downward spiral her career had been pre-pandemic. It was clear from the get-go that while Taylor clearly took inspiration from country legends, she would also hints here and there from her young 2006 to 2007 interview interviews that a lot of inspiration from top 40 radio as well specifically top 40 radio artists and even R&B and hip-hop artists so tell that this was a young girl that grew up, listening to a lot of different genres of music. It just happened that the music that she was engaging in at the moment was country. I think with the Fearless record, Taylor knew that she had an audience that was willing to listen put out so long as it came from her mind and on her pen. It's why you can clearly tell from now that it can be justified that it was definitely an this was her experimenting and looking at if her audience with her no matter what experiment she was going to do with her sound, and that was very clear with the Red album.
