  1. I never think like that. Life isn't fair. I have no interest in bitching and moaning about the hand I was given. I'm privileged and refuse to pretend otherwise.
  2. I don't have a particularly strong ethical or moral position on AI. I think the internet has an unhealthy habit of making everything an ethical test, and if you fall foul of that test you are some sort of demon. People use AI. That is the world we live in. Do I use it? Yes. I have to construct arguments at work, so I use AI mostly as a tool to test those arguments. I ask who would disagree and why. I ask for alternative approaches. I would never ask it to write something for me, but sometimes I will ask it to tidy up something I've done. Or test it for holes and gaps in my logic. But I have a very strong and clear voice when it comes to my writing style, so asking to AI to write for me never works. But people mistake the AI we mostly engage with, such as chatbots, as the main frontier of AI. I look to lots of incredible applications in different fields, especially in healthcare: helping doctors to detect diseases more quickly, speeding up identifying new drugs for patients, helping us understand how proteins fold and interact. Society has become too complex and messy for us to manage by ourselves. Every public service is creaking. Government can't keep up with demand and there isn't enough money in the world to fund all these services properly. It is somewhat inevitable that we will become reliant on AI to help us manage and run society. The dangers are twofold for me: we lose the incentive to train people who to run society - laywers, doctors, engineers. If we don't need them, people will stop learning how to do those things and if AI fails then we're pretty stuck. And second, jobs are displaced faster than they can be replaced. And whilst AI may generate economic gains, it will be at the cost of workers. The rich get richer etc. But these are all political choices, not technological ones. We need to decide not what AI can do, but what we want it to do. But I am very much in favour on controls and limits for how kids engage with AI, especially when it comes to education.
  3. I knew it would be a roach that or a leech or flesh eating bacteria
  4. How does she have the energy to keep going? She doesn't have commercial success but she's also not a critics darling. She's an average live performer and has average pull as a touring legacy act. She's has zero fanbase and is the laughing stock of the internet.
  5. Populism is a response to the failure of the ruling political classes. When people are not happy with the social and economic settlement, they start looking for different answers. They don't feel richer or safer under centre left governments, they don't feel richer or safer under centre right governments, so they look for something else. I don't think calling those voters stupid, or saying they've simply been tricked, is helpful. Many feel left behind by a political system that seems skewed towards certain parts of society, especially perceived elites. Whether thats economic elites such as billionaires, or social elites with influence, many voters feel the system works for them rather than for ordinary people. Other parties need a response to that motivation and that need. Obviously, calling them Nazis isn't working, otherwise 44% wouldn't have voted for AfD. Those tactics didn't work in America, and they don't appear to be working in Germany either. The progressive left needs a new playbook, one that takes seriously why people are voting this way rather than simply condemning them. I think another thing people need to realise is that voters don't think in terms of a left-right spectrum. Most people couldn't tell you the difference between socialist and libertarian economic policies, and they happily mix and match ideas from both. What drives many voters is a sense of fairness: whether they think the system works for people like them, whether the rules are applied equally, and whether they're getting a fair deal

The slow jams and ballads on DIL never get the respect they deserve Be With You is absolute classic and in my top 15 B songs EASY I can listen to it on repeat
  7. The smart phone is no longer the apex of technological competition it once was, that's moved to AI. It's a maturing technology. This Apple x Samsung beef is very 2015.
  8. This song is such an earworm

We built sand castles that washed away I made you cry when I walked away Oh, and although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby Every promise don't work out that way, oh, babe Every promise don't work out that way Dishes smashed on my counter from our last encounter Pictures snatched out the frame *****, I scratched out your name and your face What is it about you that I can't erase, baby? When every promise don't work out that way, no, no, babe When every promise don't work out that way And your heart is broken 'cause I walked away Show me your scars and I won't walk away Oh, and I know I promised that I couldn't stay, baby Every promise don't work out that way, no, no, no, no, no Every promise don't work out that way Like girl...

I actually like the melody and production, especially when the harmonies come in. But the lyrics completely kill it. It has zero emotional weight. She just says the same thing over and over again.

Sandcastles has some of her worst lyrics ever. It's so repetitive, and the rhyming scheme is insanely basic.

I like Spaghetti until she starts to sing or rap or whatever
  14. It is fundamentally rooted in racism, and misongy. But there are other successful black female artists, and they don't recieve the same amount of constant conspiratorial criticism. What differentiates Beyonce: Her story is too 'boring'. She is so successful, so talented, so beautiful. But her story is essentially: I'm very talented, and pretty but I also worked really hard. People find that hard to process. As a result, they start to look for other answers. She never explains herself, or feeds into her public narrative. I think people find that frustrating. They want ownership over her in some form. They want to break her, control her, and have ownership of her 'comeback'. The media and public do that all the time. She is inaccessible, but present. It annoys people lol.

I actually think releasing a perfume under Cecred makes much more sense than the standalone perfumes (I can't even remember what that brand is called). Cecred is doing well, and she should focus on building that out properly. She should also ditch Sir Davis.

  21. I actually like UK album chart rules - it stops singles distorting everything LOAS is extremely horrible, I'm surprised it stuck around for so long

I really like the new Creole. It's an improvement. Back Up is different, I like it about the same as the original She sort of sounds like she's struggling on Lost You Mind - I prefer the OG
  23. If I had to make an album from the original B'Day sessions... it would be something like this. Deja Vu Get Me Bodied Suga Mama Upgrade U Back Up Ring The Alarm Kitty Kat Freakum Dress Green Light Creole Irreplaceable Get Me Bodied (Extended Mix)
  24. Every model they put out is apparently going to change the world, and then nothing happens. Turning a clever little chatbot into something that creates genuine economic value for businesses, is incredibly difficult. These tech companies will continue to say 'isn't this brilliant' but adoption will be slow, and uneven. I wouldn't worry too much.
