This is a really bad take, the awards are also symbolic and a representation of the current culture and both COWBOY CARTER and DTMF are some of the acclaimed albums of the decade.

Only in the sense that artists often win AOTY only after they've been snubbed.

Beyonce should have won AOTY for Renaissance,Lemonade, or ST. Winning for Cowboy Carter is clearly a correction from her being robbed.

Bad Bunny's album deserved AOTY, it's an excellent album. Its context within the political crisis here in the US only makes it more deserving of the win.

The shameless racism some people show just because a non-english speaking album won is actually really scary. DtmF was not only critically acclaimed but also a huge multi week #1 album that spent pretty much all year inside the top 10. In what world did it only win because of a political discourse when it was the frontrunner in all other metrics?!

Or is everything that dares to mention a different culture/is made in a different language politically motivated to you?

Cowboy Carter still deserved for the statement it made. I know people here have a hard time accepting, but Beyonce became the first BLACK woman having a Country Song at #1 and being #1 on both the Country Song and Album Charts. She had historic and unprecedent success with the album, no matter the naysayers.

And BB had the biggest, most acclaimed album of the year and 100% deserved and EARNED his win.
