I think Jake Shane can be stupid and Madonna can be irreparably separated from youth culture at once through no fault of her own. Despite my Confessions II stannings every time I try to mention it in real life: crickets. It's unfortunate how fun and contemporary an album like that can still be shunned away because it's not by a tight-bodied twenty something.

What do you think about them in relation to the rest of the album? I also did not like it lyrically as a standalone or as an "ode to women" but it feels like an extension of envy? He admires that she fucks and yet clearly doesn't give a **** in the way that he can't? In the way that the boy is also not real, I think the woman isn't either. But I accept I'm probably reading too much into it

Their first mistake was watching SNL to begin with

I know it's not this deep, but I really like that he didn't go on the nose with the title. The subversion is more interesting even if it's not cohesive. The conceit of the record is the funny and depressing aspects of romantic loneliness within queer community. I do think men admire women because of (some) of the agency women are able to take within their own sexuality that maybe Troye does not feel (see OOYG) because of the rigidity of expectation and performance within gay sexual politics. Having a composite sketch about a woman that doesn't give a **** and sex is more kind of accessory to her lifestyle rather than a nagging ache like it is for Troye be the title track/lead is interesting. Having a stunning trans woman on the album cover, a representative of people that own themselves rather than conforming despite all the social pressure demanding them to, to serve as the avatar and the contrast against music about longing for love and being willing to conform for it is interesting. It creates a dichotomy that I think makes the music more novel because it's less expected. (sorry this is so long i just really like the album)

And for once they're as good as the popper songs
