Lover, by far. Showgirls has objectively catchy pop tunes. It has less lows. The highlights are fairly equal, but Lover just has more bad songs.

It's one of her absolute best. This is an album for the fans and not the GP. If it had been released at any time before or after Eras Tour, it'd have received more initial praise, imo. She was too in it with the GP for this album when it was released. I find myself listening to this one a lot recently.

Swifties shouldn't take the criticism to heart. None of these songs, aside from Ohio, would receive anywhere near this much attention if they had been on previous albums that match their soundscape (patient zero & ttpd, babylon & evermore, pink ***** poppin' &1989). The criticism is largely a critique on her dominance the last few years. You see this as the conversation has moved on from any individual song toward "she needs a break". That's not to say she doesnt deserve criticism, but it's been hilarious reading the Music sub reddit and seeing Slayer fans say these songs are trash, as if they were ever the audience for them.
