Because she's hungry for a hit or maybe a listenable song, which she hasn't released since 2020 (evermore).

Cause she recorded the album when she was touring Europe and Max was a known face

Didn't she say it was because they both had spent a lot of time apart growing and mastering their skills, so this album is like a "okay, after everything we had learnt, let's do this." and they did that.

He's been in a hitmaking drought and while those checks have been running infinitely from all the hits he's probably still in need of keeping his name in the game after he's been sidelined for Dan Nigro, Jack Antonoff, Metro Boomin. Ariana gave him a chance but Taylor is his gate back into stardom, Jack Antonoff is the de facto king of pop producers for the 2020s.

This album feels like Grammy-bait.

Don't "niche" albums like Jazz(Norah Jones, Sade), throwback sounds(Adele, Amy Winehouse), pure rock, and acoustic country usually either sell well or are claimed to be "real music" by the critics? 

 

However, I think she wants to be safe with taking a risk and went with Max and Shellback. What was Max Martin's price per song? I heard it was sometimes $200k? I know Pharell charged Azaliea like $40k, right?

I mean, she was focused on her TVs for quite a while and she seemed to enjoy Jack's work, but I'm sure after a few albums she needed to try something new and as someone else said already, Max is not exactly affordable

Max and Dr. Luke needed everyone to be honest. Wasn't Benny Blanco the one who had created the basis for what would be California Gurls and Teenage Dream for Katy? It just seems that they worked as a collective and would then pivot as a group to which member of the collective had the best song and then work on that song to be given to an artist. Not gonna lie, Dennis Pop(Max's mentor) I felt sounded better without Max Martin being his co-producer. I was listening to the Leila K album called Carousel that was co-produced with Dennis sounded better, but then the album afterwards where Dennis worked with Max just felt like a downgrade.

Because she already released enough bedroom pop/alternative pop songs and now it's time for a pop album and Max does that so well 

Because TTPD won 0 grammys and failed to produce a memorable hit.

jack antonoff overstayed his welcome

I think she's aware the market for sadder/slower pop isn't exactly there anymore and also likely saw the criticism some of her songs would get due to Jack's production and decided to switch accordingly.

To get Hits! That's why people go to Max Martin and pay big money

Because she likes to play it super safe. Max is better than Hack, but going back to him after so long is giving Madonna returning to William Orbit for MDNA trying to recreate the magic of Ray of Light. It never works. 

She knew it was time for a shift and at the end of the day she knows her job is to entertain and she knew most of her listeners were ready for a more upbeat album from her. 

She wants another bonafide pop hit.

Who else would you go with to produce a big four quadrant pop record?

Max is a horrible producer so there's that

This take is complete nonsense when her latest major hit was so organic that it forced her and her label to release it as a single instead of another obviously planned single, and then became her biggest hit ever in terms of streams, radio, and chart longevity in the US and globally - but whatever sounds cute for a quick lil ATRL quip I guess
