  1. And the iPhone still costs as much as a laptop
  2. When they mean "english" do they mean like The Beatles and the other bands of the Mersey Beat genre of the 60's?
  3. "Suddenly I See" reminds me of "1, 2, 3, 4" by Feist.
  4. I think it is because you have gotten older. I assume you are around 17-22 years old? Because I rember people my age felt the same way about music in 2013. It is time to pass the baton to a younger generation to decide the fate of popular music.
  5. RedOne just reused his formula to whatever stuck lol... He reused the Alejandro drums in another song i forgot the artist but it was a girl group. Edit: Found it The Dolly Rockers- One More
  6. Blank Space, Welcome To New York. Katy Perry's PRISM sounds very Lana, Lorde and 2011-2013 alt-rock and indie INSPIRED, but doesn't sound like Lana or Lorde. By The Grade of God's bridge sounds Lana-inspired. Double Rainbow sounds like a Lorde-inspired insturmental. Pills N Potions by Nicki Minaj sounds Lorde-inspired. You can hear some inspiration in Hands to Myself by Selena Gomez. Practically Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Benny Blanco, etc... are known to heavily "borrow" and take inspiration from popular songs. Max implied something about "updating" his sounds... Dr.Luke has a whole mess of court cases on plagiarism... and Benny Blanco admitted that they were going for a Lana Del Rey sound for Rihanna's Diamonds. Forgot to add, this an an "indie-pop" song that came out in 2010 a few years before Lorde beduted, but it sounds VERY Lorde like. I do think Lorde popularized this sound:
  7. I say this as a non-Ari fan. I don't think this is bad, I think it is decent. I think that this is going to do better with the GP than "Yes, and?" but I feel it will be less fan driven. I feel she is now appealing to people born in like 2011, because The Maria's seem to be popular on TikTok, and this song sounds like a The Maria's song. I blame Max and Ilya for the trenchasing.
  8. I like Omarossa because she is more quiet and says things in a manner that can fly over peoples heads. New York obviously tries to exaggerate and play up to cameras. New York I feel is much better suited for scripted reality TV where they compress her 1 hours comversations into like 30 second segments. Omarassa is more "long form" if it makes sense? As in like she is more interesting when you understand the context of her and her job, her "resume." New Yrok feels more instant, while Omarassa does pretend like she has done nothing wrong. both are good for different reasons.
  9. The funny thing is that Dinsey's Frozen washed out BOTH self-titled and ARTPOP. They should have been feuding with Elsa instead.
  10. Wasn't Nicki Minaj already a republican? I heard rumord that she supported Mitt Romney in the 2012 election?
  11. I heard he rents out property in Dubai. However, I don't think RedOne is broke because he was in charge of the music for FIFA and did the music and produced for QATAR FIFA 2022. RedOne left the US market and instead focuses on Middle East and Latin America now. I don't even think he does electropop now either, just world music. Lana Del Rey + Emilie Hayne, Cyndi Lauper + Rick Chertoff, Bjork + Nellee Hooper, Rihanna + Stargate, Katy Perry + Stargate, Katy Perry + Benny Blanco and Dr. Luke... Dr. Luke solo kinda sucks not gonna lie. It seems like he perhaps rode off the coattails of Benny Blanco for early Katy's and Kesha's stuff?
  12. Yes. "Yes... and?" did multiple variants to debut at #1, right? Unless Billboard changed the rules. However, the main threat would be Ella in my opinion, she could perhaps pull a sales tactic as well to keep her on top for a few more weeks. Do you guys think Ari's career is slowly declining, or is she steady? she has been consistent like P!nk in a sense.
  13. You can hear that saxophone sound and the Logic Pro ES2 Synths and the Logic Pro Auto-Filter Plugin that RedOne would later use in for the songs on Lady Gaga's "The Fame" lmfao
  14. The Miley Cyrus song is almost rock if you ignore the electronic drum kit.
  15. Can someone fill me in what Jay-Z did? Or why is Nicki disliking Jay-Z? What did Jay-Z do in general that makes Nicki claim that rappers don't like him? All I know is that Jay-Z is a "hard-core capitalist" and "greedy" from rumors that I hear, but is Nicki mad about a business deal or is it personal?
  16. Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle — Your Love (single) I was not expecting that. Perhaps the least known song on the list, but it is definitely a classic deep Chicago House song that I can only assume inspired many DJ's.
  17. We need the RedOne produced tracks that Michael was working on before his death to be released someday...
  18. Conservatives claim that the "older" system was rigged in the sense that each state had to account for race. However this is WAY overboard
  19. Isn't this expected though? The producers have their ideas and also want to steer the music in a way that suits their style in the same way that an artist has their certain style and ideas. So it usually comes down to control where the producer and the singer have a tug of war of what they want the music and final product to be. I don't know if it necessairly bad because I am sure even ATRL's get mad when their favorite artist does something different then what they expect them to do. I mean even ATRL's complain when an artist doesn't release a single or when they choose an album cover art that is different than what the fans expect.
  20. Jay-Z shaded himself and like all of the music industry. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Rihanna... I don't see anything wrong with "updating" or evolving to the trends. Yeah, it is "selling out" but I don't mind as long as its good if i am being honest.
  21. Rick Chertoff who produced Cyndi Lauper's debut album(which is now archived in the US National Archives), honestly wished they would have continued because her music without him became stale while he continued to have hits with Joan Osborne... RedOne, I really like his music that wasn't straight up EDM... so like Kat De Luna, Lady Gaga. I don't think he works with western artists anymore, he focuses more on Latin,Middle East, and Southern Europe music market now... Nellee Hooper's work with Bjork is so good. We don't mention Dr. Luke very often /s....
  22. This. MJ's death was more recent, and his hits were more recent so of course he will be talked about more in modern times. It is like claiming why we can't name a Amadues Mozart song, and we his isn't more talked about(the biopic grossed 90 million in 1984) so like $291.65 million in todays money. We can end the thread. Also imagine if Elvis actually toured outside the US... His manager didn't let him tour outside the US lol.
  23. Why is she always crashing out?
  24. Both horrid, but I think Bring Your Love sounds better.
  25. Cleopatra influenced these woman.
