I'm sorry, but I don't like Cyndi Lauper's choice of second single for the True Colors album. "Change of Heart" peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 after the lead single, "True Colors," peaked at #1. But I think "Calm Inside the Storm" should have been the second single. It was never released as a single, which is a shame because it's one of her best songs, in my opinion.

Girls Just Wanna Have fun seems to be played more on the radio than the other songs.

This is funny because when I first heard Rihanna in 2007, it was on Radio Disney. Yeah, Rihanna's shift into her "bad girl" image was a lot more gradual. It wasn't like she completely changed in the span of a year, and she was already singing more mature songs like "Unfaithful." Miley also had songs like Can't Be Tamed and Who Owns the Night, but I think it felt different because those songs weren't as big as Rihanna's hits, and people still saw Miley as a child star. Miley wasn't really blatant about drugs until Bangerz, whereas Rihanna's hits gradually became more blatant with their adult themes early in her career. I can't explain it, but I never really considered Rihanna a "bad girl" she was just the girl who smoked weed and hung out with the theatre kids duriing break and the drug dealers by lunch time.

Max Martin usually asks for co-writing credits. A five-second Google search shows that Max Martin and his team are credited as composers, while Ariana is credited as the lyricist (and they conveniently omitted the "songwriter" credits and seperated them as "lyricist" and "composer"). Ariana did not wrote the songs entirely by herself(as in the melody). Being the sole lyricist just means she wrote the words. Lyrics and melody are different things... the melody is what is sung, while the lyrics are the words added to it. Max Martin and his collaborators usually help create the melody and overall composition, even if Ariana wrote all the lyrics. So no, the melody probably wasn't written entirely by Ariana alone. Nothing changes.

I think it is because you have gotten older. I assume you are around 17-22 years old? Because I rember people my age felt the same way about music in 2013. It is time to pass the baton to a younger generation to decide the fate of popular music.

Blank Space, Welcome To New York. Katy Perry's PRISM sounds very Lana, Lorde and 2011-2013 alt-rock and indie INSPIRED, but doesn't sound like Lana or Lorde. By The Grade of God's bridge sounds Lana-inspired. Double Rainbow sounds like a Lorde-inspired insturmental. Pills N Potions by Nicki Minaj sounds Lorde-inspired. You can hear some inspiration in Hands to Myself by Selena Gomez. Practically Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Benny Blanco, etc... are known to heavily "borrow" and take inspiration from popular songs. Max implied something about "updating" his sounds... Dr.Luke has a whole mess of court cases on plagiarism... and Benny Blanco admitted that they were going for a Lana Del Rey sound for Rihanna's Diamonds. Forgot to add, this an an "indie-pop" song that came out in 2010 a few years before Lorde beduted, but it sounds VERY Lorde like. I do think Lorde popularized this sound:
