I hope doja is getting a REALLY good night sleep these days knowing she released a very high quality project

 

I love every song except for the last few tracks which im sure will grow eventually

Truly though this album should a been released in the summer I genuinely think it woulda made all the difference

Everything about this era feels so ******* weird :

 

- The drown out teasing of Jealous Type to the insanely rushed album promo between single and album. 

- I feel like they did not emphasize enough how it was a return to form for her after scarlet, back to her mainstream sounds

- The album flopping insanely hard and yet I feel no one cares ? The haters are not dragging her as hard as they could, kittenz her fans don't really care and Doja herself doesn't seem to give a **** ? 

- Not one song doing anything on TikTok where she literally used to reign supreme, even during Scarlet

 

No one CARES

My theory is that people don't know it's even out.  I saw at least 3-4 comments from ppl on TT + X saying: "Doja drop the album now please" 

 

Sure chronically online people know…but GP doesn't.  Thats why I find it hard to draw any conclusion about where her career is at…b/c the promo (while better than past eras), is still lacking.  And "JT" wasn't a good lead, esp not to have such a short window to album release.  
 

When she performed on VMAs ("JT") and SNL ("Ahh Men") her songs experienced a boost.  I feel like if people are rejecting the 80s sound that wouldn't even be happening.    And the theory people are over her seems weird…b/c then why is Planet Her still being highly streamed right now + even some of those tracks are trending on TT currently?   Nostalgia ig? 
 

Her not getting TT trends could be telling…but if we're being honest a lot of that is organic.  Label can't force that to happen.  And in order for trends to pop off..ppl need to know the music is out.

The way the algorithm is currently set up makes it really hard for a lot of people to actually find out about her music. Her new releases are not showing up on many people's feeds or playlists, which means they are not reaching the audience they should. On top of that, a lot of people honestly just do not care enough to look for her anymore. Most of them are caught up in their own little worlds, focused on whatever they are already into, so they are not going out of their way to discover what she is doing.

 

She also does not have the kind of strong and loyal fanbase that an artist with her talent and history should have. In the past, she was more of a GP artist. People genuinely liked her popular songs and she had a lot of casual listeners. But over the last few years, the way she has carried herself has pushed a lot of people away. Her attitude has rubbed many people the wrong way. She has also done a poor job of building a dedicated core fanbase because she constantly speaks negatively about her old work and often comes across with a bitter energy.

 

To many people, this makes her seem inauthentic and fake. A lot of people still love her old music and remember the way it made them feel, but they are not really interested in her new projects because her energy now feels very different. It gives the impression that she does not fully appreciate what made people love her in the first place. She reminds me a little of Miley Cyrus during the period when she publicly bashed her own older music while trying to promote new material. When artists do that, it often makes them seem unstable and disconnected from their art, as if they are not fully grounded in what they are creating.

 

When people sense a lack of authenticity, it creates distance. It makes it harder for them to believe in the artist and invest emotionally in their new work. Many see her as talented, but also confusing and inconsistent. It gives the feeling that she does not truly have a clear sense of who she is as an artist, and that can make people lose interest.

 

The truth is, she is very lucky that she is as talented as she is, because if her talent was not at that level, things could have been a lot worse for her career. Her skills and artistry are the main reason people still pay attention at all. Without that, she probably would not have much of a presence right now.
