Doja Cat - 'Vie'
Ahh Men has the same issue Cards has. There's no real hook (melodic). So it's a bit awkward for a radio single. So Idk. What I do know is that I'm lowkey getting tired of discussing singles and what they should do next. I became a stan to enjoy the music and visuals, not to basically discuss the same **** I do at my full time job, lol. So, it's above me now..imma let the Pop gods determine her fate. But it didn't have to be this way at all (in terms of the rollout + sales), which is disappointing. The quality is not so bad that it's impossible to save it. But they are doing nothing.

I don't think she cares. But she will once she realizes she won't get the budget and resources she used to have. LOL.

I have been defending them for the longest, even after what happened to my girl Tinashe. But this is ridiculous. Pick a single and GO. My god. Doing nothing is worse than choosing the wrong 2nd single. I'm not shocked by 2nd week album sales because there is no streaming hit. Only thing I can think of…is Doja is not wanting to do much more press/promo. Because they literally CAN save this still. But time is ticking.

Doja Cat - 'Vie'
Yeah I mean it's clear that she enjoyed fleshing out a conceptual album with a Pop sound w/ VIE. That's all I took those comments as, she wanted to inject some creativity in her music. Planet Her was just a bunch of Pop hits thrown on an album. To establish herself commercially. She didn't really contradict herself…ppl just misunderstood. The world is so surface level these days. And lowkey blame her for not doing enough interviews to EXPLAIN herself thoroughly. I'd rather her turn to traditional media vs. social media…b/c a lot of meaning gets lost in between all of her trolling.

Doja Cat - 'Vie'
My theory is that people don't know it's even out. I saw at least 3-4 comments from ppl on TT + X saying: "Doja drop the album now please" Sure chronically online people know…but GP doesn't. Thats why I find it hard to draw any conclusion about where her career is at…b/c the promo (while better than past eras), is still lacking. And "JT" wasn't a good lead, esp not to have such a short window to album release. When she performed on VMAs ("JT") and SNL ("Ahh Men") her songs experienced a boost. I feel like if people are rejecting the 80s sound that wouldn't even be happening. And the theory people are over her seems weird…b/c then why is Planet Her still being highly streamed right now + even some of those tracks are trending on TT currently? Nostalgia ig? Her not getting TT trends could be telling…but if we're being honest a lot of that is organic. Label can't force that to happen. And in order for trends to pop off..ppl need to know the music is out.

Why did the GP gravitate more towards Cardi B than Doja Cat?
My last thought on this.. Cardi also has a compelling story and personality-wise she gets a reaction out of people. Either you love her or hate her. Doja is not really a controversial artist in that aspect. She doesn't beef with anyone, we don't know anything about her personal life, etc. Even the devil worshipping thing she let internet run the narrative. She didn't lean into it…and BARELY spoke about it in Angie Martinez interview. Love it or hate it…Cardi at least uses the hate to fuel her success.

Doubt it. She was "cancelled" for this and came out a bigger artist. Not seeing that as the reason for her slump. But we are all entitled to our opinion. I do think that she attempted to do music that didn't appeal to her main audience (Scarlet)…and then doubled back after other Pop artists blew up during those years (Sabrina, Chappell, Tate). As much as we don't like to admit it..ppl have a short attention span. I fear Scarlet wasn't worth it commercially. And she lost a bit of her momentum. But she still delivered quality. So idk. I guess in the end it CAN be worth it…if she can get VIE back on track. Because sonically I see where she was going (Scarlet could be her "turning the corner album" like Beyonce and 4). But she's notorious for not caring about sales/hype…so a part of me wouldn't be shocked if she moved on from VIE altogether. But she's still recording 80s inspired music as of recently…so let's see. Deluxe might help.

People have a short attention span and they pay attention to what's directly in their faces. So the end result is not that surprising to me, tbqh.

One artist is willing to lean into the hype and marketing of it all…the other is not. Tbh…combined together, they would be THE perfect artist. I have always said this. Each lack what the other is offering.

Ngl I'm feeling she just gonna disappear and go play video games now idk. She basically did that for Planet Her at this point. And RCA not drawing a line in the sand on this next single. So….

Danity Kane Drama: Aundrea & D.Woods vs Aubrey, Shannon & Dawn
Yeah I watched the interview. It was actually really good. Focused on business + entrepreneurship…but then he touched on DK in some questions. I could see both sides…the interviewer obviously had his opinions in the way he worded things. But he wasn't dragging her per se. Idk. I could kinda see why Shannon didn't feel the need to defend her. DK wasn't even the focus of the interview. But I could also see why Aubrey might've felt a way. But that should've been directed at the interviewer, not Shannon.

Danity Kane Drama: Aundrea & D.Woods vs Aubrey, Shannon & Dawn
No. But It was never confirmed it wasn't true either + Aubrey and Shannon never really explained what happened leading up to that. So I'm putting two and two together. Because who's gonna hit someone out of the blue for no reason… And if it was a lie…wouldn't they have a rebuttal or explanation what led to the fight? To my knowledge The Stereotypes decided whose vocals were on what parts for the final version. B/c they didn't speak to their girls after the studio fight They just put out whatever they thought worked best, so they could recoup.

Danity Kane Drama: Aundrea & D.Woods vs Aubrey, Shannon & Dawn
I agree hitting someone is wrong. But being dishonest and sneaky is wrong too. They wouldn't even need to argue if they didn't sneak record parts to their songs. Specifically telling the producer not to tell your bandmate that you're in the studio…is bound to go left. Not sure what they thought that would accomplish.

Danity Kane Drama: Aundrea & D.Woods vs Aubrey, Shannon & Dawn
They did so without a discussion with their own group member to get ahead of the drama. Thats what was sneaky about it. Fine to call out behavior, but also tell the full story…not just that she hit her. What led up to it? Etc. They didn't even mention they were in the studio recording in a supposedly secret session. Like…that alone is sneaky enough as it is. Just tell your group mate you not feeling the idea of her recording so many solos/runs…? What is sneak recording going to do? She gonna hear it eventually They all handled it horribly.

Danity Kane Drama: Aundrea & D.Woods vs Aubrey, Shannon & Dawn
Prob not even Shannon. I'd go with Aundrea tbqh. Only reason why I sideeye Shannon is because she sat on Breakfast Club with Aubrey and dragged Dawn + made her seem like an "angry Black woman" too (after the DK3 breakup). They both wrote letters exposing her. She ain't innocent either. Aundrea has always only wanted to see the group win. That was her sole dream + when DK was over she opted out of the spotlight altogether. She's prob the most trustworthy + still gets along with everyone to this day. But we'll see how things are…if she's in this version of DK though. Dawn might take issue with it, b/c Dawn has always had Aundrea's back in all iterations of the group. And to do this without a heads up is definitely shady.
