Perrie - "Rollercoaster"

OUT NOW

Perrie will release new music on Valentine's Day, it will be either "Rollercoaster" or "Woman In Love". She posted snippets of both songs on Instagram and now wants her fans to decide which song should be released (I don't know if it's getting a proper single treatment then). So far the Rollercoaster snippet got more engagement on Instagram.

I wonder who rejected these songs before they made their way to her.

Rollercoaster sounds ok, but in a very Radio 2 fodder / bottom of the Pop Rising playlist kind of way. Woman In Love sounds bad. But they both sound equally indistinctive and don't really make use of

Okayyyyy Perrie Carpenter I see you! :clap3:

Finally some decent sounding songs!

Rollercoaster sounds ok, but in a very Radio 2 fodder / bottom of the Pop Rising playlist kind of way. Woman In Love sounds bad. But they both sound equally indistinctive and don't really make use of her voice, which is her main asset.

NEITHER.

She needs to get back in the studio and find her sound because his bland faceless music isn't going to help her career.

She has such an amazing voice I just can't understand why she's not putting it to use???

I wonder who rejected these songs before they made their way to her.

Are they really gonna release only one of them ? Or is it just a technique to get hype on both of the songs and be like "oh I saw you liked them both a lot equally, I'm gonna give a present and release them both..." ? :keir:

Both sound 'fine' but not overwhelming so far.

Though it doesn't seem there is a proper plan. I don't mind getting a bunch of music, but even though she already stated her debut album will be a meltingpot, I don't really know.

Release both songs with a pre-order for an album released end of February then get to work on album 2 with better songs (though I do love everything she's done). At this point an album with this soundscape is gonna perform how it's gonna perform and clearly the hits ain't hitting.

I love the songs. Both of them.

I do believe there's a plan in place here, these videos were filmed months ago (during Tears I believe). I think they're just promo songs and that the 4th single is a collab? Unless she's thrown a collab on both of these.

This. Her taste is... questionable

Both sound amazing; double A-side release! Two for one!!! Her solo music has been wonderful.

The problem is that I don't think Perrie has a strong creative vision, and she's not a writer.

She's taking songs that she likes the sound of, but they're not written for her and the thing that makes her special: her voice.

The melody in Woman In Love sounds a good bit like the bridge in Juno to my ears…

Perrie has really been chasing the Sabrina sound

She's so talented, but I havent been feeling her latest releases, I only liked the debut. These two new songs are very underwhelming, I'm quite disappointed, she's my fav LM :(

yeha they sound like watered down Sabrina songs :rip: they're fine songs but neither will do anything for her. I'd rather her go the Kelly Clarkson route, i know she's not a writer and intentionally wants different sounds but she could at least show off her voice

What is the intention with this strategy? Who is managing her? Who A&R'd this project? So many questions.

I will not pass comment on either of these songs until I've heard the full release. I want to like her solo music, but nothing she's released thus far has fully grabbed my attention.

I honestly think a lot of the "uninspired" criticisms levelled against her come back to these generic, cheap sounding, royalty free productions she's singing over. Rollercoaster actually sounds like it could be a cute song, but the *music* is just so…. flat. She should work with better producers, maybe she'd feel more inspired.

On the back of the email she sent out I am wondering if this will be a full single release. The official announcement 10 days before means they could release physicals and merch for the chosen song for release date.

I just hope they invest in playlists this time or do an album preorder / something. Would love to know the plan.

I'm going to need her A&R team to raid Xtina's vault circa "Ain't No Other Man" and leave with a few gems.

These sound uninspired.

Don't know why, but warning bells went off when the CEO of Columbia Records handed her a song ("Tears") and it did not do well.

It sounds like they don't know how to market her which is worrisome and usually the first step before someone is dropped.

she's got all the vocal talent in the world, but no sign of unique (but commercial) artistry. Reminds me of Jennifer Hudson

Woman In Love is giving Katy Perry in a bad way... in the worst way posible.

If she doesn't know who she is solo wise she could at least try to emullate Little Mix' sound. It worked perfetly for Geri Halliwell.

Woman In Love has more likes and more or less same views on TikTok but Rollercoaster has more views on IG (Probably bias from the algorithm) really interested to see how they figure out the winner.
