This. I feel sad they're wasting her opportunity to become a solo star. She's got the best voice and the worst material.

Hopefully, it'll inspire her to make some decent music instead of the watered-down nothing she's released up to this point.  She's got an incredible voice, it's just clear she doesn't really have much of an ear for hits. She needs a better A&R and work with better writers.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but many people are enjoying her music and the same comments about it being generic are no longer constructive when it's been said for months on end

 

Perrie clearly enjoys the music she made and was the most booked and busy of the three last year, it seems after this song is released she's having a hiatus and probably re-recording before the next one. I just hope for her sake that she isn't letting comments get to her as she's been vocal that her anxiety is the worst it's ever been.

People loves to hate for the most stupid reasons. Yes her singles are quite generic but bops tbh. She has been in a group for years she and her team are still figuring out her sound.

She's an incredible performer and this is something her team needs to exploit more.

I prefer Rollercoaster.

I hate how people think if she has a powerful voice, then she needs to abuse it 24/7 or she can just go to hell. Pretty much all of her solo material is very solid retro-pop, that, to me, show her strong creative vision. Aside from "Forget About Us", songs have really interesting production and approach to songwriting, all this toxic "h&m music" bullshit is just another form of pop music erasure and nothing else

The vocal production (?) or mixing (?) or … something… feels so off on almost all of her songs, including these. Her voice sounds so… thin. It sounds like it's not at the right volume level compared to the music. I honestly think she just needs to work with better producers.

and how is the retro pop sound doing for her. How's the critical or commercial acclaim?

I love Perrie but these sound terrible.

 

Rollercoaster sounds ok but it sounds like royalty free music...

 

Perrie can do so much better...

my thing with Perries music is that you can tell there's not much thought behind it. Like for FAU to me it came across like one of the only main factors of it being the lead was because Ed Sheeran wrote it and they just assumed it would be a hit because of that when I think even Little Mix would've scrapped it. YGYW was just a mess too, drags on and on and on and on, not to mention it being a literal cover. It all just seems so lazy. Compared to Leigh and Jade, Perrie and her team are putting the least effort into everything and it shows I fear.

 

Tears is a banger tho I do love her, the music video had so much personality too, its been her only release I've properly enjoyed

I think JADE, Perrie and even Jesy have found their sound. I'll always root for Perrie, i've enjoyed FAU and YGYW but she can do a lot better.

 

She has been in the studio again according to her instagram so hopefully she's working on better music. She is so talented and just needs better material.

I think there's a clear difference in priorities and goals between them. Jade wants to be a popstar, Perrie just wants to sing and perform as much as she can.

She should've stuck with the sound of Forget About Us and went further into the Kelly Clarkson pop/rock style.

I get that she's chasing the retro-pop sound but she couldn't find someone to write her a hit? Or if she's still struggling to find her sound why not hop on DJ's songs and release generic singles? Everything is just feeling like a waste of time.

 

And to think one day i thought she would be the Cheryl of Little Mix

I think a pop-rock sound like since u been gone/my life would suck without you would be fantastic for her and her voice. these faux retro disco songs are not it 

both songs sound amazing!!!

Both songs won't be released together and we'll get the other song 'eventually'.

There's 'quite a gap' until the next single.
