Yeah, 440k were from the $0.99 Amazon discount, so she would have sold ~670k without.

BTW turned the GP off her, it made it seem like she was for gays. She declined then that whole era. ARTPOP got the fallout.

A decline was inevitable but it’s not normal to fall as hard as she did. Bombs like Artpop and Joanne being among her top 5 releases is tragic

Right. The “in every aspect” kills me too as if the visuals weren’t the biggest absolute letdown coming from her, the single choices were just god awful, etc.

Secondly, BTW sold that much off of TFM hype. BTW didn't deliver, so no one bought Artpop as a result.

 

Kind of like a TD-Prism-Witness style run. Prism still sold but the damage was already done from the lack of quality served, Witness was doomed.

 

 

Idk but I was thinking how even in the Paparazzi video, she references her own downfall (and repeak). Its true that the public kinda loves to see a star fall from grace, discard one it girl for the next. I do think in some ways it was a "self fulfilling prophecy" type moment

but she did? she had the fame which was a hugely succesful era, which she followed up with the fame monster which was even more successful and then born this way? that was 3 huge albums

Every thing that goes up, must come down. We know that. Every pop girl that is the IT girl once, becomes a flop at some point. That said, this graph truly is the epitomy of a flash-in-the-pan fad.
