Montevideo and Brasilia are 100% skippable. Caracas because of safety issues too. Bogotá: It's not bad but I'd say Medellín and Cartagena are more fun and interesting. Quito: Colonial gem. Lima: Restaurants are the best part of it. You can see the historical colonial places and taste great food in just a couple of days, because the nice part of the city is really small. La Paz: It's not for everyone, you will be in the Andes so it's like a bigger Cuzco. you really have to be interested in seeing ancient ways of living meet modernity. Santiago: safe, cute, clean, perfect for daytime plans, nightlife is boring except for its great techno scene if you're into that. Buenos Aires: pretty fun, very cultural, great nightlife, old european buildings. though people can be kinda rude and it is an unsafe city.
