Tbh I think the 2000s allowed the girlies to be free and allowed them to follow different paths. While Rihanna, Beyoncé, Taylor, Adele and Gaga might have overlapping stans, Their demographics are clear and quite distinct allowing them to be the best of their path. if you want the performance of your life then Beyoncé is there. If you are for the vibes and cool girl swag Rih was there. Taylor for the girlies, Gaga for the gays and Adele as the alternative. Whereas back then they were competing for the same sort of listener (eg in the 90s pop ballad loving) and that could only allow so many people to be at the top and stay there.
