I don't think B needs to go pop to "win" over the gp. I mean she doesn't need to do that at all really. 

 

But, there's a reason why 4 is so beloved. It has regular songs, with regular song structures. Songs they can sing a long to, and listen in the middle of a spotify playlist. 

 

I mean, that's not what I look to B for. She now occupies this space for me culturally, that every time she releases a project I learn something new about music, art, history and culture. I'm quite happy with that.

I will say, though

 

For Act III

 

I'd much rather avoid issues like the start of YA YA, which only make sense in the context of listening to the album straight through. But standalone, its very jarring. It sounds like you've missed the start, which I guess you have because its on a previous song. 

the one flaw self titled has is the fact she combined some songs together for no reason, it's 2025 and I want to listen to Partition.. not skip to 1:30 so I don't have to listen to yoncé

Some of the issues I've been seeing is absolutely terrible customer service and easily avoidable mishaps. 
 

The shop has never been perfect but I think swapping the era around really highlighted deep issues with logistics, because some of the merch I'm seeing delivered and it's quality, yikes. 
 

Economy is crazy to be playing with peoples money. Especially core fans that actually buy. 
 

 

 

The hoodies and sweaters are always great.  I wear my Renaissance hoodie all the time.

 

The t-shirts and other things... not so much.  I impulse buy, because I'm afraid something is going to sell out.  Then I'm left with a $90 shirt I wore once and never want to wear again.

Bringing a whole album alive on stage in only 16min is no small feat and she portrayed all the different facets of that record so well. She was confident, vulnerable, aggressive, audacious, flirtatious, "grimy", just feeling herself completely that night.

I agree, though I actually prefer her 2016 VMAs approach. doing 5 songs and performing them longer resulted in a better medley overall.

 

I also just enjoyed the Lemonade live performance run. She then did "Freedom" at BET Awards, "Daddy Lessons" at CMAs and "Love Drought/Sandcastles" at the Grammys. "6 Inch" and "All Night" had the Tidal performance. She essentially performed every song on various occasions.

Unpopular opinion: Self-Titled's mini documentary is by far her best documentary. Renaissanace film (non-concert segments) is my 2nd favorite because it's the most personal (alongside Life is But a Dream but that one was boring oops). The Year of 4 is dead last.

I really wish Renaissance had something like that. I know those studio sessions were JOYOUS

I agree. 

 

While LIBAD gives major insight into her mind and thinking at the time, its very... curated and the genuine insights of getting to know her are explained to us in a polished and planned way. 

 

ST mini series on the other hand feels so raw and authentic and captured in the moment, which makes it feel more insightful and enjoyable as a "documentary".

I was listening to Doja's new album (love it) and was really digging the 80s vibes and saxophone bits. I would love for Bey to have her a 80s saxophone moment on Act 3. It doesn't necessarily have to be 80s vibes, but I feel sax solos are very reminiscent of the 80s in general. Her voice sounds like a sax at times, so I feel it would be an instant classic for her to sonically play around with that. Like how Whitney harmonies alongside the sax in "All The Man I Need"   
 

Anyways, this drought doesn't feel so bad to me (yet). Like we be going through droughts during the era atp.  I still hope I don't get hit by a bus or anything before act 3 is released tho.

With how much less she's done during act ii compared to act i, I wonder if we are even getting act iii.
