I respect your dedication to the truth, but there's no sense arguing with these people. Facts don't matter to them. It's about feeding their inner misery and believing the worst of someone simply because they don't like them. They'd rather this woman have been raped simply to confirm their preexisting bias. I'll concede we don't know all the facts, but it's not uncommon for an older relative (especially one of means) to see the best side of someone. It's by design. He probably acted like a saintly nephew to her face, and then if anyone dared raise concerns, she'd (truthfully, in her eyes) defend his character and refuse to hear it.

I've had friends get mad at other friends for not posting about Palestine, even when the person who didn't post rarely uses social media and has a private account with fewer than 500 followers. The reality is that many people dress themselves up in the cause because it gives them a pedestal from which to look down on others. You need only look at the deserved but outsized lashings Pink and Ed Sheeran are getting while Robert Kraft and his vile, genocidal billionaire cohorts continue to live their lives free of consequence. Beyoncé should speak up, and I really wish she would. But at this point, even if she does mention it on act iii, people who don't like her will say "Too little, too late, co-opting the cause," etc etc. Stans will respond by saying, "SHE ONLY SPEAKS THROUGH HER MUSIC; IT WAS THE PLAN ALL ALONG. Y'ALL ARE NEVER HAPPY" And we'll go round and round in the culture wars while very little actionable change is done to help the people of Palestine.
